“Very Disappointing”
Reviewed 24 June 2014 via mobile

The only good things about this hotel are the location, fantastic views from the restaurant, the very helpful breakfast staff and the breakfast itself. Everything else was very disappointing (we didn't use the Spa so can't comment on that). The room was cramped and decor tired, mould in the bathroom and thick dust (or mould ?) on the bedroom coving. One thing that really annoyed me was the fact that there were no individual toiletries in the bathroom, only very inferior liquid soap and shampoo in cheap dispensers that didn't work. I asked at reception for proper soap etc and it was reluctantly provided. The coffee in the bedroom was awful. The wifi very slow. Overall it felt like a cheap low budget hotel in desperate need of refurbishment. Having said all that, the location is stunning but a good 15 minute walk into town.

Hi Diane P
Thank you for taking the time to post your review of your recent stay. I was delighted to note that you enjoyed our location and views from our Restaurant. We are fortunate to have one of the best locations in the country. Thank you also for your compliments relating to our Breakfast offering and I have passed on your kind compliments regarding our staff directly to them. I was disappointed to read your comments regarding your bedroom. The hotel has gone through a complete refurbishment of the Bar, Restaurant, Lobby and public areas over the last couple of years and a plan regarding the bedrooms is being developed for this coming winter period. In relation to your comments regarding the toiletries provided, they are from Gilchrist and Soames, who are renowned for their quality. I hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to the hotel on another occasion.
Kind regards
Graham Fitzgerald

Spent one night here during our recent visit to Ireland. Nice comfortable room with fabulous views and impressively spacious bathroom. Very friendly and personable Manager and staff. Enjoyed some great Irish music sessions in a couple of the local pubs, and a very good solo musician in the hotel bar when we got back from town. Dinner was excellent, and the breakfast buffet was superb, both for variety, quality and service. Just wish we could have stayed longer! We are already planning an extended stay here on our next visit to Ireland. Time did not allow on this short stay to experience the Spa - a "must" on our next visit!

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking Dingle Bay if possible

We have waited a bit to write this review so we could do so objectively. On the positive side, our room was lovely, had everything we needed and the area was nice and peaceful for good sleeping. The location just outside the town was great.
The food in the bar was acceptable.
But our main problem was the evening we booked a table in the restaurant. Great view; lovely seats but then our problem was with the service. The young waiter raised an eyebrow and said he would have to ask the chef if we could split a meal. (Have not had that problem elsewhere) . There is only so much we can eat. When we did not order anything to drink, then we really felt ignored. After eating, we decided to share a dessert but could not get anyone's attention. Finally we got someone to bring us a dessert menu but no one would come to take our order. There was a large group eating but other couples like us were also waiting. Staff seemed to be very unorganized. There did not seem to be one person responsible for our table. The service elsewhere was good.

Our group stayed at your fabulous hotel ... was that only last week...and I enjoyed every moment (well except for the clothes dryer that did not dry! - but at least they were washed). Fabulous view of Dingle Harbour from the dining room, but never did see Fungi. Breakfasts and dinners were fabulous and you even had 2 person bottle of Prosecco. It was a very easy walk into town for some lively authentic Irish music or shopping. Well done, we had a marvelous 2 night stay in Dingle.

Nice, clean, well run place that tries to make your visit run smoothly. Good location for short walk into town, yet right on the harbor. Staff was very helpful & gracious. Would stay here again if lucky enough to return to Dingle.

Room Tip: we liked our room in back, overlooking pasture and back lawn area with stone buildings.

I was impressed with the customer service of this place! I had written a week before our arrival stating that I would like to request a sea view room since we were celebrating our 25th anniversary and first trip to Ireland. Not only did they deliver on the sea view room, they also had a Congratulations card waiting with chocolates, cookies and bottled water. I thought it was such a thoughtful gesture and nice touch.

The room was beautiful and the bathroom was remodeled and very nice. We went to the pool but were told we couldn't use the pool without purchasing swim caps. We were allowed to use the whirlpool, and it was very nice, but the whole pool experience seemed a little bit restrictive to me, so we didn't stay long. Also, there was no place to sit at the pool. This area needs some chairs. I think I saw one chaise in the children's pool area. The pool area was very pretty, so it would make sense to sit and enjoy it, if one could sit.

The buffet breakfast at Dingle Skellig was impressive. The food was very good and plentiful, with lots of variety and a seating area with a beautiful view.

Overall I was very happy with our stay, but I found the room rate to be a little too expensive. We were splurging since it was a special occasion so I'm not dwelling on it. We were happy we chose it.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view if available! Gorgeous!
