Took a little while to fine even with GPS but it was a beautiful day. We drove the car down quite a way before we parked and walked around. Stream was beautiful flowing over the rocks into the lake with wild flowers in bloom.

When your on the N86 coming from Dingle a soon as you reach Annascaul there is a small road on your left with a sign “Annascaul river”, take a left there close to a blue house.
After a wile take a right (there is a small sign). You drive for a while and a soon as you start to think you are driving on a private road from a farmer you will see another sign and reach a gate. Just drive through and close the gate behind you. You can park by the lake. It’s beautiful here, so quiet and very mysterious. You can take a beautiful walk here. Don’t miss this.

Great way to get out of the car and take a beautiful hike. Enjoyed this stop much more than the tourist stop of Dingle

It is a perfect place to walk or climb to if you are reasonably fit. Keep a look out for the peat bogs and wear proper walking boots. The walk is not very long and well worht it as you can see both the north and south sides of the peninsula. There is always a spot where the sun shines even when it is sleeting or raining!

We have twice been up to lake Anascaul, but have never yet got out of the car!!!
The first time it was absolutely bucketing down. The second time was absolutely terrifying!!
It was a windy day down on Inch beach, and being fed up with being sandblasted we thought we would try Lake Annascaul again, WOW!! The lake is in a valley which acted as a wind tunnel, we parked up alongside the lake but the wind was so strong that we dare not open the doors for fear of then being ripped off! There were little whirlwinds going across the lake and waves crashing over the wall, our little van was rocking from side to side, and I genuinely was in fear of it being blown on its side. A truly memorable day, perhaps next time we will actually get to leave the vehicle.
