My wife and I stayed here in August of 2014. The room, public spaces, and breakfast were the best we have ever experienced. After 30 years of traveling that is saying something. The room was spotless. Bed comfy, and the bathroom was perfect. View out the front of Dingle Bay. Yes - it is a short walk to downtown, but that makes it quiet and restful after the "good craic" in the pubs. But the breakfast. Give me a break! Everything on the buffet was fresh and clearly homemade. Even the fruit was not from a can. And they had bread pudding which was great. And I don't like bread pudding! Theirs tasted like french toast. But the winner - hands down - was the porridge (oatmeal to us USers). Not only was it made with cream, but came topped with fresh berries, brown sugar, and a floating of Baileys Cream. I could have stayed there all day - never had anything this good. The hosts were wonderful and helpful as well. One surprise - for 14 euro we got an entire plastic bag of laundry done. This place was so good you need to experience it. Worth EVERY dime.

Room Tip: I would ask for one facing Dingle bay

My wife and I stayed for four nights, and everything was just perfect. Breakfast was everything we had hoped it would be and better. Brian and all of the staff were absolutely lovely.

The room was very comfortable with a great bed and room-darkening blinds, and the rest of the house was cozy and inviting with nice touches everywhere. If we ever come back to Dingle, we are definitely staying at Castlewood House again!

I can only endorse the superlatives of other reviewers. Brian was a charming host and an excellent breakfast chef. The house is solidly constructed--no noise here--and beautifully appointed. It sits back from a main road across from the bay. In early August the tide was out in the morning and evening, giving a great view of migrating shorebirds from our window. That was one surprise. The other was the arrival of Rick Steves Best of Ireland Tour, taking most of the rooms for two of the three nights we were there. This is a regular stop for the Steves groups, and you can see why. Still, the arrival of a tour bus does change the feel of the place.

Room Tip: You definitely want a room with a bay view.

This was one of our hotels on an 8-day trip to Ireland with eleven family members. The trip was marvelously arranged through Maloney and Kelly Travel. All of the accommodations were much more luxurious than we would usually choose, but given the group price each was a very worthwhile splurge. My only regret is that I don’t have a typical price or best possible price to quote but since this was high season, the best internet rate is probably correct. We travelled in a 12-person coach with our private driver and guide Donal Scannell (donal@chauffeuredtoursireland.com), who was a wonderful guide and a lovely and charming person. It was truly a trip of a lifetime.
This elegant B&B is in a lovely location at the edge of town with cute grounds and a view from the front-facing windows over the tidal harbor. The front door opens into a beautiful, art-filled lobby with more the flavor of an elegant living room. There was a single person at a desk to welcome guests and handle all of the questions and arrangements. The lobby area is adjacent to the lovely breakfast room to the right, and a sitting room with coffee and tea available most of the day to the left. Each room had beautiful wood floors and carved wood furniture. Rooms were down wide, carpeted, art-lined hallways. The amount of art us quite striking and the works of art, some of which were painted by the mother of the owner, were generally of very high quality, and had lovely historic frames except for some of the modern pieces in the breakfast room with the no-frame look. The breakfast area, which is a true highlight of the B&B has beautiful china and silverware, and elegant vases for the flowers. The breakfast is a wonderful banquet with a large menu of spectacularly presented hot food and a nice selection of cold food and cooked fruits in a buffet. The two incredibly friendly servers who helped the members of our family had chatty, smiley personalities and were extremely informative about the food, the house and the area. When we came back from dinner in the town, which is easily reached on foot, there was a sherry sampler waiting in the lobby. There are lovely, modern touches to the remodeling and upgrade that they have done including clean simple lines throughout the interior and halogen recessed can lights in all rooms including the bedrooms. All the bedrooms our family had including ours were elegant looking with painted walls, marvelous art, a wonderful comfortable king bed with only 3 medium pillows but soft linens and a top sheet and blanket instead of a comforter. The bedrooms had the best lighting we had experienced with area lamps, halogen ceiling cans and 2 side tables with good reading lamps. We all had no cost drinkable water in a lovely vase in our rooms, but no ice. There was a modern, flat screen TV with multiple channels. There was no AC, which was a bit of a surprise, but there were several large windows that opened widely to allow sea or garden air into the room. We kept our windows open and experienced no bugs even though there were no screens. We had a glass walk in shower with a loose almost non-functioning adjustable height shower head and only a partial glass door that allowed a fair amount of splash into the room. They had lovely products, and a single sink with a large vanity surface mounted on the wall above the toilet for plenty of extra space for toiletries. The usual 2-prong shaver outlet did not function even with several tries. In addition to the shower there was also a tub, and large fluffy towels. WiFi was fast, strong, reliable and although there was no password needed, which I usually feel is a slight security risk, in this setting it felt fine. This has got to be an expensive place, but if you want a sense of getting lovingly pampered for your money, it is worth it.

Room Tip: If you get a room facing the bay, it's a peaceful lovely view.

I have stayed at many B&B's and this is the absolute best. The decor, the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff, the food – it doesn't get any better than this. The view overlooking Dingle bay is beautiful and it's just a short walk into the town center.

What is it about Castlewood House that makes it so relaxing? Is it the elegant but comfortable decor? The warm, helpful welcome? The top-quality bedding and bathrooms? Or the unforgettable breakfasts? All I know is that we hope to return someday. Top marks to Helen and Brian, and their delightful staff.

Room Tip: We loved room 10, which was huge and had lovely views from two sides.

Fabulous B&B with spacious, clean, modern rooms similar to a brand name or boutique hotel. Excellent breakfasts with a variety of delicious options on the hot menu as well as buffet service. We had excellent views of the Dingle Bay and peninsula from our room. The location is away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Dingle, but close enough to walk everywhere in town. We spent three nights here and would definitely stay again.
