“Cosy house with great views proved the perfect antidote to Mayo's weather”
Reviewed 12 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Our fifth holiday in Mayo but I wanted to stay somewhere new. Always a risk as we had nothing against our normal option.

The house itself is deceptively large. The curved external walls highlight good attention to detail. If I may be so bold, I much preferred it to the substantial 4 storey house next door (fear not, that's next door in "Mayo" terms - so probably 200 metres away)! Just to underline this, another feature of the house is the total privacy it provides.

The house is incredibly cosy - thank goodness as it was the normal mixed Mayo weather - thunder storms, wind (and I mean wind!), hail and even snow. Although unnecessary, given the underfloor heating, we enjoyed a few nights of peat-fuelled fire as well.

The house is very well laid out. The games room kept the children entertained (when raining) whilst the windows (another feature of the property) provided excellent views of the children playing in the garden - ensuring that we could keep tabs on who hit who first, and could thus adjudicate accordingly!

We took Grandad with us and I was delighted to find that both he (and us - parents) had lovely en suites. The children shared a lovely large bathroom complete with capacious shower and large bath.

Finally, the kitchen - Dad's domain. I always ponder what utensils to take on holiday to allow for the odd blunt knife or missing "device", but given Monsieur O'Leary's increasing Artful Dodger tendencies, my utensils tend to lose out to the multitude of coats we bring. So, I was delighted by how well appointed the house was - sharp knives, food mixer, coffee maker etc.

“A beautiful house in a beautiful setting”

We took the owner's recommendation to visit the local butcher en route to the house and we were certainly off to a good start ! The meat was delicious. The house is situated in a wonderful remote area overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Achill Island and Blacksod Bay. It is beautifully decorated, ultra-modern, very comfortable and warm having a constant temperature. We always looked forward to returning to the heat after been outdoors in October ! The views from the living room and master bedroom truly are amazing. Although a holiday home, this house has everything and lacks nothing. You won't need to light the fire unless for appearance purposes and if you do we were told the turf is the best turf in Ireland ! The kitchen is so well equipped. As a wheelchair user it was great having level access over tiled and wood flooring. The large spaces made it easy to get around also. The kitchen is designed to standard specification so my wife just had to do all the cooking !! There is a level access shower but bring your own seat if needed. Also there are no grab rails. We never tired of the spectacular scenery in the general area and the many places to explore nearby. The locals were very friendly and stopped to talk to us several times throughout the week. We would definitely return to this very classy holiday home. Thank you.

the holiday house is in a perfect condition and second to none; fascinating and ever changing views from the large French windows over the Atlantic, the islands and the Achill mountains, truly beautiful, come rain and shine. Floor heating in all rooms plus a powerful fireplace in the living room. extremely peaceful environment where you only listen to the wind and the sea surf. very friendly and extremely helpful owners. we will definitely return!
Excellent information folder with maps of various marvelous walks (Erris Head and Carrowteige Loop Walk, for example, have been overwhelmingly beautiful and rewarding), restaurant recommendations etc.

“Superb house in a superb location”

We have to admit some bias as my fathers family are from this area and we return regularly to holiday in Erris. The views toward Achill from this house are stunning, for us it's one of the best views in Ireland. The peace and quiet of the area provides for great relaxation and its easy to blow off the cobwebs with a walk along the nearby beach.

The house itself is very comfortable and has everything you need for a great holiday break, recommended.

“Views to die for.”

Well appointed and well equipped holiday home, situated in large private garden. Beautiful views across to Achill Island, watch the weather come in and pass by. The beaches (one just a five minute walk through fields) are spectacular and virtually deserted. A car is a necessity. Thoroughly recommend.
