I was looking for a pub to watch the open and it seemed that every one I went to was watching the Gaelic football semi finals. I stumbled upon Poachers at the Mayfly Hotel which ahd a tv above the bar and sure enough the British Open was on. The big screen had football. I had a pint of Smithwick or two. The bartenders were delightful. Now the hotel is great too.

Room Tip: A riverside room is lovely

My sister and i stayed in the Mayfly Hotel in Foxford last Saturday 6th.July.We had a very warm welcome and the Manger and staff could not do enough for us, we had a very comfortable, spotless twin room, and a freshly cooked breakfast for us the next morning.and great value for money.Bed and Breakfast only 79euro.We will definately return and stay longer next time.

Room Tip: Room at the back of Hotel.

When you pull into Foxford, you don't expect a place like this being a fishing village and all. Though the Mayfly looks a bit expensive from the street, the restaurant "Poachers" has amazing food and incredible prices. Does 12 euro for a main dish sound good? The pub was comfortable, friendly, and very welcoming after a long day of travel. Don't miss this place and order from the specials on the board, not the menu.

From the moment you walk into the Mayfly Hotel you are greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. the rooms and food were excellent. The friendliness and helpful staff were a credit to the Hotel, David in particular went out of his way to inform me of all that was to see and do in this most beautiful part of Ireland.
