Stayed at the Mayfly midweek during July 2009. Booked last minute online.Foxford was halfway house between Ballina and Castlebar. Room basic but very clean with tv, iron etc. For a one night stay didnt need any more! Food in Poachers was fantastic!! Couldnt praise it enough! The staff were very friendly and the pub itself had a lovely atmosphere.Couldnt fault anything! Breakfast was huge and very tasty! For €55 a night b&b for 2, we will certainly return!! great value! Much better than a b&b!

Had an absolutely fantastic stay here. The staff are wonderful and there is a great atmosphere in the bar, especially on a Sunday night at the tradtional music. There is a great menu and all our needs were looked after food & drinks-wise. Our room was lovely and we got a very good rate that included breakfast (which they serve until 12 midday!) Really looking forward to going back.

We had our wedding reception in The Mayfly Hotel in October 2007, the location was perfect for the size wedding we wanted. We dealt with Veronica the whole way through planning our big day, which was great because she knew exactly what we wanted and how to get it done!!! All the staff were brilliant and everyone commented on how gorgeous the food was, it was great to be able to have different choices rather than your normal run of the mill wedding food. The location, the food and the friendly staff are what make our wedding day stand out from all the rest and its one we will treasure thanks to The Mayfly.

If you are looking for small dark cramped rooms, cold showers, being kept up all night by noise, reception staff never available and overpriced everything, then this is indeed the treasure you are looking for!

The breakfast is half decent (if you like lots of salt and 5000 calories at 8 am) but that's all that can be said for this place. Having recently stayed there, I can honestly say that the most pleasurable moment was checking out (that's after I could actually find someone to deal with it). The staff were unhelpful and the rooms depressing. Popping downstairs for a pint didn't help either as at the end of the evening, I discovered that I had been charged for drinks that I did not order and when I queried this, the barmaid accused me of lying!!

There are some great hotels nearby and if you are looking for an enjoyable experience in the west of Ireland (particularly if you are over for fishing or, as I was, a golfing trip) do yourself a favour and do shop around before settling for this place.

This is a fantastic little treasure, i looked up the internet and thought it was ok, It is situated in the lovely town of Foxford right on the Banks of the River Moy. I can't tell you how surprised I was on arrival, It had recently changed hands and they have done a fabulous job. The Hotel is clean warm and inviting as soon as you walk in the door, informal but very pleasent staff. I was even more surprised to find my room it was extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated a lot of thought went into this place. Breakfast is served in the morning in the coffee dock again very nice with your breakfast cooked in front of you in an open plan kitchen, it was delicious. The icing on the cake was Poachers Bar & restaurant, the food was second to none the place was extremely busy and I'm sure they are going to win many awards here. There was live music on the saturday night and the atmosphere was great. I wish the owners of this lovely place all the best 10 out of 10 for a great weekend.
