We hired one of the self-catering cottages attached to the House but took advantage of dinner in the hotel twice. The house is superb with welcoming fires and historic furniture and paintings. Dinner was nicely chosen and excellent quality with a choice of two dishes as a starter, main and dessert plus a soup and cheese. The wine list was well chosen and reasonably priced.
The quality of the self-catering accommodation was very good: we had two bathrooms and three bedrooms a large sitting room and a dining room/study as well as a kitchen . Television and cd player worked well. very good laundry facilities and friendly resident dogs. All set in glorious grounds which also boast a heritage centre that can provide delicious lunches and teas. Susan the owner is very well informed about local history and DJ, her son, keeps a watchful eye on service at dinner. Difficult to fault.

Room Tip: Horse House Two is spacious self-catering accommodation

Our 4 days days at Enniscoe House, while on a family research trip, were a highlight of our trip to Ireland! From our arrival through the front door, we felt as though we were part of the family. Our room was beautiful, oversized and comfortable. The house and grounds are both beautiful and historic.

Susan and her son DJ were extremely friendly and so helpful, even before our arrival.

A highlight of our stay was the dinner party we were invited to join in the dining room. We had an amazing meal and made 35 friends that night!
(The breakfast is equally amazing)

I highly recommend Enniscoe house for a nice peaceful stay in Co. Mayo!.

The stay cost more than $300 per night, so we expected to be staying at a high quality country house. The house is in a beautiful and peaceful location, and the innkeepers are very kind. But the house is worn out and definitely not worth the money. The mattress was very old and lumpy, the blanket was stained, and the sheets were old and discolored. (Very little sleep for us during the two nights we spent there.) The room had cobwebs in many places, the shower had soap scum on much of the tile and some hair left from the last visitor, the nightstand had stains from a prior visitor's drink, and half of the 6 towels had stains. Definitely not the quality we expected.

We are very disappointed to learn that that you did not enjoy your stay at Enniscoe House. Enniscoe is our family home and it is very important to us that guests enjoy their experience. To address a particular issue the mattress was new last year but it may be softer than some people might like. With an historic house we do battle constantly with cobwebs and we apologise if on this occasion we missed some. We certainly think that our house keeping standards are good ,and comments from other guests confirm this, but we will of course be even more vigilant in future.

This Manor House has been in the same family for 13 generations!! Originally built in the 1730's there is tremendous history and a very unbelievable story behind the heritage of the house. Be sure to sit in front of one of the fireplaces relax, enjoy a drink and talk to DJ (or his mother Susan) about their family's history with the house! DJ is a very unassuming and tremendously accommodating host. Like many of the local guest houses, they grow much of their own produce and herbs, so they food is amazingly fresh. And like most of Ireland, fish & seafood is plentiful. My wife has some food allergies and DJ (and his girlfriend) couldn't do enough to make sure her needs were taken care of. Food was excellent!! Ambiance was conducive to interacting with the other guests. Very refreshing & relaxing! Would love to return and spend some more time at Enniscoe House!

Enniscoe House is my most favorite place in the West. The breakfasts are absolutely the best in the whole of Ireland I have every experienced. Dinners are also sublimely delicious with the entire package wrapped in an aura of hospitality which is unmatched for miles around. Price is so reasonable and this gem of a place will always be on my list to stay when visiting Ireland. Just hope this a hidden gem of a place will always remain my secret shangri-la.
