By the time we got to the Broken Jug we were hungry and in need of some food that wasn't Irish for a change. We know that pubs are great places for good food at reasonable prices on the Emerald Isle, but this pub stepped it up a notch with the Thai food we ate. It was very tasty and there was plenty. The decor was just average, but it's a trip to be in an average pub in Ireland.

The Broken Jug is an old favourite of ours when we are visiting Ballina. We had lunch here one day - just soup and sandwiches but it didn't disappoint. The soup was lovely and hot and the sandwiches were tasty on bread that was so fresh it must have just been baked! It was all well presented. We ate here one evening as well and the food was just as good as we remembered. I had the lamb shank and the meat was so tender it just fell away from the bone. It came with champs (delicious) and boiled potatoes. My one gripe, and it's just a small one, is that vegetables had to be ordered as a side order and were not included with the lamb shank. As the meat already came with mashed potatoes, it would have been better to have been offered veg instead of more potatoes. My husband had the steak and thoroughly enjoyed it. All in all, good value, delicious food and a lovely atmosphere in this friendly pub/restaurant.

I visited here for lunch mostly every day on my trip to Ballina, excellent food, plenty of it, with the option to have a smaller meal, if like me you don't have a very big appetite, staff very friendly, and atmosphere congenial would recommend this to any one visiting Ballina

Great prices for drinks at the bar. Didn't eat here but the food smelled delicious. Nice easy going place during the day. Meant to be great craic at night.
