Stayed for 2 nights while visiting relatives, house inside is full of fine furniture and pictures and has a real sense of history about it. Our room was vey large with high ceiling ,again with lovely period furniture. At breakfast we were attended to by John and Christina and breakfast was cooked to order very nicely.John had an amusing line of banter and we enjoyed a good chat about the "The Magic Sign" of old.Overall a rather nice experience all round. Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet, but our room at the back had the bonus of a lovely river view.

My son and I spent a lovely couple of days at Christine and John's Abbey House. The B&B was very easy to find since its adjacent to the Boyle Abbey-just follow the tourism signs. Christine greeted us warmly and showed us about her home. John carried on a good conversation and looks just the the photo of his Dad in the sitting room. Yes, the house is old, but that's part of its charm. Its not far from the quaint town of Boyle. I suggest taking the numbered walking tour of town and learning its history. Maureen O'Sullivan, Jane of Tarzan movies, was born there. Also make sure to have the Salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast. They were Delicious!

My husband and I based ourselves at Abbey House while we toured the west coast of Ireland.
I can not recommend our time there highly enough. Helpful, attentive and no request a problem.
Some great Irish hospitality. John and Elaine.

This was a really unusual and beautiful old house. Furnished in High Victoriana -wonderfully atmospheric and very clean and comfortable. It is in the grounds of the Abbey and a river runs through the pleasant gardens. Our host was a nice helpful man -with an amusing line of banter while serving breakfast. The house is spacious and we could come and go as we pleased or sit in the drawing room sipping tea - a la Downton Abbey - if we wished.
Delicious, generous breakfast, free wifi, quiet setting. Highly recommend this lovely house.

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet because of the secluded setting. Both our rooms had ensuite bathrooms. Some have bath and shower, others just shower.

Abbey House is located just beside the Boyle Abbey in a beautiful location by the river Boyle. The exterior looks really fine but interiors need an extensive renovation. The owner is a nice woman, there is free wifi connection and breakfast is good. With a good renovation it could really be a wonderful place to stay.
