“Group of girls celebrating 50th birthday”
Reviewed 27 January 2014

We have just returned from a weekend at this hotel to celebrate my sister's 50th birthday and I cannot praise it enough. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. We had a package which included dinner and I have to say that the food was among the best I've tasted. We also had a spa treatment in our package and the staff here too, were extremely efficient. The location is excellent..just a stroll to the beach and promenade and further afield (about 2 miles) Mallahide offers some lovely shops to browse around. All in all I'd thoroughly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning again soon.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 135 which is a family room with 2 double beds and a beautiful view of the golf cou...

Stayed one night with dinner and breakfast. I was accompanied with a wife and toddler! The location is great and worth a dander along the beach to work up an appetite. The hotel looks good both inside and out (hard to beat a golf course attached). The two things that stood out for us was the food and the staff service. I have never felt it necessary to comment about a hotel's food as it should be a high standard when you are paying for it, but this 3 course was memorable combined with the service which was friendly but not overdone.

We really had a good time in the hotel however not a lot to do in the rain (unless travel into Dublin).
It is perfect for a golf outing not really a family orientated hotel as no swimming pool. The gym is very disappointing - better off going for a run on the beach.

Room Tip: Was told by receptionist we would get a quiet room as we had a toddler but unfortunately this wasn...

Decided to revisit Portmarnock during the week and stay thursday evening on a good deal. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by the receptionist. Asked for a sea view upgrade and were pleasantly surprised to get it! Room 304. Great sea view and quiet part of the hotel. Great. Room clean and tidy. Love it here. Good for a wee break and not to far to travel to get here from Northern Ireland. Easy access to the beach and coastal walks. Close to Malahide and Howth or to catch a dart train into Dublin if you wanted! Even asked if able to have later check out and was able to stay until 1pm. Brilliant. No rush to checkout. The hotel may never come up to 5 star rating but has lots of good qualities if you want a restful day or two away. This is our third time here and we will be back again..... Recommend all to try.

Room Tip: We love to get a sea view room but not along the main corridor from the lounge area. Go upstairs for...

The hotel staff were very accommodating and helpful. No fuss received from any request made. Booked for two night, extended stay for 5, platter of sandwiches at 4am after a long night, borrow of a phone charger after leaving mine at home. Room was large and clean - great selection of TV channels which astonishingly included Sky Sports, BT Sports and Setanta. By far the best value for money stay and experience from any hotel I have had the pleasure of staying in. Make the most the current offers!

This hotel is in a great location on the coast, for those who enjoy long walks on the beach (no pun intended!) this is ideal. Its a 20 min walk to Malahide along the coast, and Dublin city is accessible by the bus. Extra bonus is the Italian restaurant (turn right out of the hotel and walk 1 minute, its on the left) called Lali's - Really good food and well priced for the set menu!!!. Now the hotel, it is very well presented with a modern interior and the staff there could not be friendlier. They were very accommodating for all our requests and they really are a bonus to the hotel. The niggles: The food and drink, whilst nice, is expensive. A lunch for 2 adults and a child was around 40 odd euros. We asked for a small glass of milk for our toddler which was a whopping 2.95 euro's.....very costly when you imagine how much milk a small child drinks. With the food, the chips come salted; whilst I may add salt myself, I don't think it is suitable to salt the chips for the kiddies meals too - we spent many a meal trying to brush the salt of his food. And last niggle as a parent - highchairs need to be kept in a very good condition; we had a broken tray on one, a harness that wouldn't fasten on another and one that needed a good clean down. I appreciate this isn't a 'family orientated' hotel as most people there were there to play golf or take in the beach but I think this is a basic item to check. Would we go back??? Yes, despite my niggles it was a really nice hotel in a great location and we look forward to exploring more of the area on our next visit.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the garden - must admit we did not hear ANYONE from the rooms either side...

This is out third short stay at this hotel and once again it was extremely good. The hotel has a great location and the staff are welcoming and friendly. It is lovely to walk along the seafront to Malahide or along the beautiful beach. The rooms are good , well equipped with very comfortable beds. The food is very reasonable priced and although not fine dining it is good. Breakfast is very good with hot food made to order.
We would definitely return for a fourth stay.
