We had our wedding here, Alison and al the staff were fantastic and couldn't have made our day anymore special. The food was fantastic and when catering for over 100 people that,s saying something. The bedrooms have been recently renovated, the 3rd floor sea view rooms have the best views of the sea. there is a fabulous 18 hole links golf course and there is a spa on site too.

Room Tip: if you want a good sea view ask for a 3rd floor bedroom

If you do not want to stay in Dublin City Centre, I recommend you do not, then this is definitely the place to stay. It may seem far out, but the bus ride is only 40minutes, if that, into Dublin and runs until midnight and you get to see fantastic little hamlets on the way, full of Irish charm.
Onto the hotel, we stayed on the third floor and the views were fantastic. We overlooked the first hole of the golf course, but also had views of the estuary, the beach and Ireland's eye (an island). The room was vast and spacious, with a modern interior. The breakfast had a great selection and the host Mary could not do enough for you. My girlfriend has coeliac disease and they did gluten free toast for her and all of the breakfast that you would expect to be gluten free was, with no cross contamination so that was great. On our last night we stayed in the hotel for dinner and got down there quite late (around 9pm) and it was extremely busy. The hotel is very popular and this particular night there had been a communion, so was,for want of a better word, rammed. Upon entering, we were faced with no table, but the staff were quickly onto this and cleared a table that had just become available and seated us. The menu had a great choice for a hotel and once again, the bar manager (didn't catch his name, but had long curly hair and was quite the character) made sure that coeliac disease was catered for. He was here, there and everywhere, but always remembered us and came to check everything was ok. Drinks were reasonably priced, under €5 for a pint of Guinness, I paid that in Temple Bar over 7 years ago!
Overall this was a very enjoyable experience, even down to the morning stroll on the beach (a dog lovers paradise!). The staff were amazing and made the stay all the more pleasurable.

Room Tip: Stayed on the third floor overlooking the golf course, ask for these rooms and you will not be disappointed.

Yet again I have nothing but the highest praise for this excellent and so friendly hotel. The staff are so pleasant, welcoming and helpful; nothing is too much bother for them and every effort is made to make your stay enjoyable and memorable. The location is amazing with views over the sea and golf course and all the meals were scrumptious. Kerli, the reservations manageress deserves a sepcial mention for her friendliness, efficiency and caring nature. Guests become her personal friends. The "boys" and the lovely gal in the Jamison bar were so helpful and pleasant and we will dine there in future. The manager of this bar (was it Frido???) was also so helpful and ensured that we enjoyed our meal to the full.
We would not consider anywhere else in the area to stay - full marks in every area to a premier hotel in a beautiful location. Well done Portmarnock!

Just stayed at this property last weekend. The hotel is nice, the bar is lively, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. My only gripe with this hotel is radiators in the rooms... it's something you expect to see in very old hotels, but the hotel rooms in this hotel are of modern construction, so I was surprised to see them!

I would certainly stay here again, and I look forward to my next visit!

We recently spent a week at the Portmarnock Hotel with our two children. We booked two rooms and both were lovely, with fantastic views of the sea and golf course. The kids' room had an enormous balcony with panoramic views and ours had two corner windows that overlooked the sea and golf course. The rooms were perfect for us - new, very nice and comfortable. We ate breakfast there daily and it was terrific. The dinners and lunches we had there were also very good. I especially liked having lunch in Jameson's by the fireplace. The staff were all lovely and helpful. It was an incredible value and actually one of our favorite hotels. We've stayed in many different types of properties all around the world and while this one wasn't the most extravagant (that would be the Hotel Grand Des Iles Borromées in Stresa), it was really fantastic and enjoyable in every way. We toured around the area, from Malahide, Howth, Newgrange,Trim, Glendalough, Dublin to Wicklow and it was perfect for this. My husband and son played several rounds of golf and it is close to many excellent courses in the area. I would highly recommend Room #332 - great views.

Room Tip: Higher floors have amazing views. Room #331 has a huge terrace/balcony that is probably amazing in the summer months.
