Perfekt B&B to spend time not too far away from dublin and the airport. Its about 15 min (by car) away from the airport and really close (10 min. Walk) to the a nice marina where you can relax maybe on your last days in ireland. Thats what we did. Gerry is a great host and prepared delicious breakfast for us and gave us Tips fir the area. The room are very clean and in good size. Will def. come back.
Even to dublin u could go by public tramsport but its aparently a 45 min ride. Better would be to have your own car. Theresa and Hary

Gerry and Eithne certainly run a fine establishment. Extremely welcoming and able to advise about Malahide, what to see, where to dine ,etc. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable with TV, Wi-Fi, en-suite. The breakfast was second to none. We were four Aussie golfers at the end of our tour of Ireland and I would have to say this B&B was the best we stayed at during that 17 day period. Gerry even made a couple of calls and helped arrange two of us send our clubs to London as we were flying direct to Italy to meet our wives. They could not have been more helpful. Can't recommend highly enough !

Gerry and Eithne Rafferty, and their little pup Lucy, made our travel-weary family feel immediately at home at their Castle Lodge Bed and Breakfast. Eithne lived up to past visitors' reviews that we would be treated to a nice cup of tea upon arrival, accompanied by some tasty digestive biscuits, in her state-of-the-art kitchen. What would have taken me ten minutes to brew at home, with the push of a button and a spluttering whirr, Eithne's magical beverage machine instantaneously cranked out hot tea or coffee to lift our spirits. Not only did we enjoy Eithne's hospitality, and watching the wondrous beverage maker in action, but it was nice to be welcomed by Lucy, the family's Jack Russell terrier, who eagerly appreciated a pat and a kind word from all of us.

Our grown kids shared a twin room (with very narrow, hard, short beds, they reported) that overlooked the driveway. Our double room, with an extra twin, was next door. The rooms were large, bright, and comfortable and freshened by the comfortable summer breezes wafting in through the opened windows. Although I was told the 12th century Malahide Castle was a ten minute walk from our B and B, and, supposedly Room 8 had a view of the castle, our room overlooked rooftops and a large tow truck parked out in the backyard.

The advertised en-suite bathrooms were a lesson in Irish energy conservation. Previous B and B visitors had written that the hot water switch was operated by Gerry and when he went to bed, the switch went off for the evening. With this in mind, we tried to get our showers completed before "the witching hour" and, for the most part, aside from our daughter's one cold shower, enjoyed a reasonably comfortable shower. We were in charge of the electrical outlets in the rooms and had to flip them on to operate the coffee pot, small tv set, and lights--and, remembering to conserve energy, we flipped them off when not in use. WIFI reception was weak in our rooms though our kids found that they could hook up with the internet in the stairwell.

Eithne graciously provided me with a hair dryer and extra bottles of water to keep us hydrated during Ireland's unheard of July 2013 heatwave. When our daughter tired of the typical hot Ulster breakfast every morning, Eithne happily cooked her a breakfast to order. What was pretty special was the singing and tunes emanating from the kitchen. Imagine my delight upon hearing Frankie Laine's voice whooping out : "Movin', movin', movin," with Gerry joining him on choruses of "Rawhide," as he and Eithne continued to crank out the immensely anticipated, to everyone but our daughter, Ulster breakfast. Some guests from Australia were about ready to turn the breakfast room into a dance hall when strains of "Waltzing Matilda" floated in from the state-of-the-art kitchen. A testament to the power of music. We also enjoyed Gerry's rendition of, and story behind, "Fields of Athenry," from the traditional Irish repertoire. If you enjoy music, the Rafferty's is the place to visit.

In addition to providing us with comfortable rooms and memorable breakfasts, Gerry and Eithne accomodated our bicycling group quite nicely. Hot cups of tea, recommendations for pubs and tourist destinations, and great stories of Ireland flowed aplenty as all assembled and were were made to feel at home in their B and B's lounge and patio area for our introductory meetings..

We were pleased to spend some time at Castle Lodge B and B and thank Gerry, Eithne, and Lucy for their 100,000 Irish welcomes extended to all. Ciad Mile Failte!

After a few problems with our Galway rental what a great overnight stay we had at Castle Lodge. Eithne welcomed us on our arrival with a cup of tea, told us a bit about the 'sites of Malahide' and then showed us to our rooms. The rooms and bed linen were spotlessly clean with a TV, coffee/tea-making facilities and en suite shower/bathrooms. Breakfast was equally good. Nothing was too much trouble for Eithne and Gerry and we would have no hesitation in recommending this B&B whenever you need accommodation in this area.

Following some recommendations we stayed in Malahide on our last night in Ireland. Castle B&B was a great choice for lodging and Eithne and Gerry were great hosts. It was typical Ireland weather when we arrived and we wanted to walk the town so extra umbrellas were provided by Eithne. Dinner recommendations were spot on and we also enjoyed Gerry's singing while cooking breakfast. Gerry even gave us a map of back roads to airport which took us only 10 minutes to get to!

After a 23 hr flight from Australia & an easy 15min drive from Dublin airport - Castle Lodge was a great start to our holiday in Ireland.
Gerry & Eithne were perfect hosts - very helpful with advice on places to visit or where to eat. Loved hearing Gerry singing in the mornings whilst cooking our yummy breakfast that kept us going all day.
The shops, pubs & restaurants are only a 10 minute walk away - A visit to Malahide Castle is a must - also only a 5 minute walk.
We stayed 2 nights before setting off down south & 6 days later at the end of our visit to Ireland we stayed another night to be close to the airport for our departure to Southampton - ideal!
Thank you Gerry & Eithne - you are both great people.
