We stayed at the Grand Hotel in Malahide for four nights while attending the wedding of the son of friends of ours which took place on New Year's Eve. We arrived on the Thursday evening having flown in from Bristol. Lovely room (or should I call it a mini suite?), sitting area, dressing area, lovely big bedroom with a double bed and a single, which I took advantage of as my husband unfortunately went down with a cold! Fabulous breakfasts in the main restaurant overlooking the marina and creek down to the sea. Easy walking distance to the station or buses into Dublin. The wedding day itself was fab, everything done perfectly for Ben and Alison, nothing too much trouble for the staff, all in all a fantastic weekend and I would certainly stay there again.

We organised an important family event at the Grand in late January 2012. Everything was excellent: rooms, service, food.

The staff are courteous, helpful and good natured.

Highly recommended

Room Tip: Sea views are best!

This was my second stay at this hotel and it will NOT be my last. The hotel was very busy, with family parties, hen and stag weekends. The staff were excellent, great location, great view from the breakfast room and minutes from the main drag.

I recently organised a block booking of rooms at the 4* Grand for a company event. From the very first phone call the staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and professional. We had many changes to the contract but they were all handled quickly and efficiently and the Reservations Manager, Patricia, even arranged for the full Irish breakfast to begin 90 minutes earlier than usual so that our team could get a decent fill before heading out for the day.
The hotel doesn't have minibars in the room but they managed to arrange for a mini fridge to be brought in - at no extra charge - for a colleague who had medicine which needed to be chilled. Additionally, a complimentary welcome drinks station was set up for my main group arrival which was at 10pm.
Our group had mostly Executive Rooms and a few standard rooms, both larger than I had expected, very reasonably priced and included full Irish breakfast and all taxes. The rooms all have an iron, ironing board, laptop-size safe and tea/coffee making facilities with delicious Bewleys products. My room, 403, was really lovely with floor to ceiling windows looking right out over the harbour and estuary, out to the sea. The hotel only has wi-fi in the public areas but wired access is available in all bedrooms and was very reliable and easy to use.
The Coast Restaurant was a beautiful room with gorgeous views over to the estuary and harbour and the breakfast was okay. They use good ingredients but don't keep them fresh or hot enough. We ate in the bar for lunch and dinner...the food was very nice and the service was wonderful. In fact I would say that it is definitely the staff that makes this hotel as memorable as it is. From the gorgeous smiling girls on reception to the wise-cracking guys behind the bar, everybody made our group feel so welcome and so at home here that none of us wanted to leave!

Room Tip: Executive Rooms 403, 406 and 407 are fabulous! The Executive Rooms are a little larger and offer a...

The Hotel is massive, and the entrance and lobby area is very impressive. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom was huge compared to standard hotel bathrooms. The room itself was a little dated and worn. they could do with updating the carpets , curtains etc. We had a view of the sea and i can only imagine during the summer this would be amazing!
We ate in the hotel bar - food was tasty, it was lunchtime and there was a man playing guitar in the corner beside the fire which gave the place a homely feel.
Overall i would stay again.

Room Tip: I'm guessing the higher the room the better the view of the sea!

Just returned this morning from a great stay at the grand! Location excellent, staff very polite and helpfull. Everyone of them would say hello. Clean rooms and the hotel it's self is immaculate. Only 1 negative the breakfast was horrible to be honest the worst I have had in any hotel. The scrambled egg was like cottage cheese, bacon tasteless and sausages rubber! Bread selection good and nice wheaten bread. Just couldn't believe what was being served in what was a fantastic hotel.

we stayed here in December attended a wedding, driving up to the hotel is very "grand" it over looks the bay which is really nice, the rooms however are a little dated but they are clean and a good size we had a non smoking room and usually in rooms like this u can smell some sort of smoke which there was none. the hotel can be a bit of a maze depending on what side you are on the room numbers are a bit confusing, i would recommend this hotel to a friend and the food is lovely, there parking is free and this is a bonus on this side of the city.
