Owner description: Malahide Castle & Gardens is a beautiful & historic medievel castle, with a facinating story dating back to the 12th Century. Located on the beautiful north coast of Dublin City Malahide Castle was once owned by the Talbot Family for nearly 800 years and is one of the longest owned castles by one family in the country. Set on 250 acres of stunning parkland, Malahide Castle is also home to one of Ireland’s four botanical walled gardens with 5000 species of plants inculding a wonderful collection from many Southern Hemisphere countries. Guided tours of the castle take place daily from 9.30am all year round. Our friendly and informative guides bring to life the story of the Talbot family during the 45 minute tour through the main reception rooms & bedrooms. The modern & bright visitor centre is home to the garden exhibition area and gives access to the Talbot Botanical Walled Garden. Avoca Cafe & retail is located in the visitor centre and is a treasure trove of wonderful gifts.

We went to see Malahide Castle and Gardens today - a beautiful sunny day. The entrance fee covers the castle including a wonderful guided tour lasting 45 minutes and the walled gardens. These were very beautiful. You do not need to pay to park and have a picnic. We sat on the lawn at the front and had our picnic - plenty of space and when the rain came on at four there were plenty of indoor places to shelter till we went back to the car. A big and airy visitor centre. Well worth a visit either just for a walk and picnic or for the tour of the house and walled gardens

Malahide Castle and Gardens were very interesting. Nice visitors' centre with lovely helpful staff. Good Avoca shop and restaurant. Visited castle on a guided tour.We had an excellent guide who was happy to answer questions that anyone had.Tour lasted 45 mins and we then could visit the gardens and walled garden. A very enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours on our short break to Malahide!

the castle is beautiful, the grounds are really nice and the playground is one of the best around, but it should have more family events or fun days

Such a beautiful place and we had a splendid time. I really hope we are able to come back and visit again. The history was very interesting and the relics inside were very well maintained. A must visit as it is so close to Dublin!

There is an admission charge to go in on a scheduled tour. But you don't have to pay if you only want to walk around and take some photos. We walked from the Malahide Grand Hotel and it was only 15-20 minutes. There is a nice area for restrooms and souvenirs and, of course, to sign up/pay for a tour. The grounds are really nice with families enjoying the lawn and sunshine. There are several interesting ruins and an interesting graveyard with really ancient headstones.
