We had my fathers surprise 80th birthday here in November. Of the group of 10 the ages ranged from 15 to 80, and all had a great time. From the fantastic food to the excellent service and atmosphere, I can't recommend the place enough. Myself and my wife drop in for food on occasion also, and it's never let us down. Try the with wings for a real taste pleasure.

Thank Johnny H

Visited the scotch bonnet with my girlfriend and i have to say the service was good the waitress was very nice but thefood was a complete disgrace i got the beef burger which is advertised as "the best burger in ireland" it was freezing cold the cheese was like a lump of rubber the side of scotch bonnet sauce was lying out so long it had a thick skin. The chicken wings were average and at €15 a bowl with no sides i had to pay another €4 for fries. To be honest the nicest thing bout this restaurant is the mint sweet you get with the bill to get that horrible taste of grease out of your mouth.

Food is lovely. Service is good. There are games for bigger children. It is a casual dining experience, but its expensive for the type of food that it is.

Attended a birthday lunch here (12 of us), first time to visit. I was suprised to read the poor reviews as my experience was positive, enjoyable and very good from start to finish. Waitressing staff were helpful, smiling and patient (particularly when one of our party said something out of order to a waitress). We didn't find the prices overpriced at all and my chicken burger was delicious. All the others at our party remarked on how they enjoyed their varying meals and if I was in Malahide again I would certainly opt for The Scotch Bonnet. Service was prompt and as I said smiling (maybe the recent poor reviews led to an improvement), but nobody in our 12 left there dissatisified, but everyone's opinion is based on experience so mine was certainly positive and enjoyable. A very decent little spot for me.

Went in for a quick lunch. A guy with stare-ey eyes was sitting in an armchair in a coat by the door...he stared at me while I waited for the other guy in the t-shirt to seat me. Not sure who the former was, the latter told me card machine was broken, pointed thru the window to the cash machine across the road (I never believe this, its cash flow, right?). I sat, the guy in the coat got up and left. What negatively surprised me was the cost...its basically a burger joint (plastic menus) but the prices are way-too-high; burgers 14 euro plus chips (4 euro more). I have fish and chips (17 euro !) and out came something worth 10 euro (not 17). The guy in the coat came back in and sat in the armchair again. Why ? The table was sticky, like deep sticky...sticky as a greasy tartan cap on a drunk. Hence, the name I guess. Not a repeat, even at lower prices. I left a 20 note and got out, trying not to catch the eye of the guy in the coat.
