I recently stayed in Fountain House as I was in Cork for a conference and had a few days off. Macroom is a great area to stay as you are close to the city but get the piece and quite of the country. Its a great place to stay in order to see Cork and Kerry. Fountain house is in a beautiful location overlooking a lake. Breda is very welcoming and very accommodating providing a great breakfast in the morning and dinners in the evening.

Stayed here while traveling through Ireland and couldn't recommend a better place to get a true snapshot of Irish life. The food was delicious- all homemade with freshly baked scones, rich stews and of course, the full Irish fry up delivered with big pots of tea and a smile.

Breda is full of knowledge about the surrounding area and she and her family couldn't have been warmer or more hospitable. The grounds are gorgeous with large gardens, mature apple trees, and steps down onto the lakeside at the end of the lawn.

Rooms were spick and span, well furnished with little personal touches and had modern streamlined en-suites. Would definitely stay here again and bring friends.

Room Tip: Try the Irish Stew dinner and Irish coffee.

This place is very well situated on the lake and Breda our host was very accommodating and helpful. Unfortunately this place is very dated and the rooms are small and cramped. The water pressure was low and the bathrooms were also small. One of the rooms hadn't been serviced. There were adequate choices for breakfast. It's a good fishing destination but that's about all

I stayed here while on business in the Cork area. Macroom is very well positioned as it is close to the city and a main route to Killarney which is very beneficial to those doing business in the Cork/Kerry area. Breda is a very welcoming and efficient person. The B&B is very suitable for those in business as there is Wifi available. Breda provides evening meals in addition to a full Irish or Continental style breakfast. The rates charged are very reasonable and the room was modern and extremely well kept.

What a wonderful stay we had. Food was out of this world, very attentive host and perfect for a fishing trip.

With the fishing just at the bottom of the garden, it was very accessible and just a short walk back up the garden if you've had enough, and we were brought toasties and a pot of tea everyday at the water's edge for lunch. The electric blanket was a lovely treat having spent hours by the water.

Thank you for your hospitality, from Anne and Alan.

Since our last visit to this luxurious B&B with it’s breath taking views and a warm and friendly atmosphere, as well as the finest home baking you’ll get anywhere in the world, Breda and Pat have added a jetty and have some boats for rental down on their private strand. This guest house is one of the finest we have ever stayed in, on our return Breda and Pat greeted us like family remembering us from our last stay. The house is situated ideally for the romantic getaway, on route to Killarney and only a couple of minutes from the idyllic town of Macroom. There is lots to do and see, add to this one of the finest fishing destinations in Cork and Kerry is situated just at the bottom of the garden and you have the ideal holiday destination. This destination keeps getting better and better and we are definitely going to return again next year!!

Welcomed with tea and fresh scones. Given an immense menu for breakfast. Lovely setting with own lake frontage. Breda & Pat were warm and friendly and willing to offer help with laundry problems and routes to tourist sites. Dinner and baking excellent. Appreciated the guest lounge and the tea / coffee available all day. When we left we felt we had become friends.
