“Continuity of great food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2014

Yet just another great lunch in Dan Buckley's bar. It never disappoints. Not only is the food great but the staff are friendly and polite. No wonder there is usually a queue on a Sunday for the lunch. Keep up the great work. Its wonderful to have such good bar food in Macroom.

“Great bar menu, with excellent local foods”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2013

We stopped in for some food here on a Saturday evening. The bar menu is lovely, maybe just a little pricey, but very good and innovative selection. I had the cajun chicken in a ciabatta, which came with a gorgeous lime and coriander mayo. It was served with pretty basic salad and chips, but overall very tasty and satisfying. My partner had the burger with the fantastic local mozzarella cheese. It was an excellent burger. The service here is always excellent and friendly, and there was a good mixture of locals and tourists. Major congrats on the promotion of the fabulous local foods, from the Ballyvourney black pudding, to the mozzarella, to Gubbeen chorizo, and the various cheeses. It's great to see local produce showcased like this. Well done to the Castle.

“Never disappointed with Dan Buckley's”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2013

We were making our yearly expedition to Macroom and arrived around 12.15 pm, just in time for the lunch. We were greeted by a lovely and helpful waitress who said that the carvery was open and we could work ahead with ordering or she could order for us. She also explained that there was a option for a half portion too. It was quite warm and I didn't feel like a huge meal, so I decided on the quiche (which came with veg too), and my parents had the half-portion of lamb which they enjoyed also. All washed down with two glasses of ice cold water. Will definitely be back next year for our yearly event. Food also very reasonably priced - €9 for half-portion and €10 for quiche.

“Break in Macroom”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2013

My partner booked our 4 night stay in The Castle Hotel, Macroom as we had originally planned on going to Liverpool. It was to be our 'base' for visiting/exploring the area. We chose to eat every night at the bar as it saved the hassle of looking for, and trying out other places. We weren't disappointed with our service there as it was fairly prompt and friendly without it being over-bearing as we'd encountered only recently. Food-wise the highlight was the final night when we ate the steak, to which was cooked to perfection.
