I stayed with my husband recently at Longueville for wedding celebrations and what a happy and enjoyable experience it was . We were staying overnight and arrived earlier than expected, the bedroom was only just vacated by the previous guests. However the staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating and had every comfort including a cup of tea ready for us within minutes. Celebrations began at 1 pm and the best of fresh food and wine flowed from then until midnight. Most memorable was the seated and table served dinner with BBQed wild boar as main course. The boar, apparently, roamed wild in the woods of the estate. Our table was in the romantically decorated old conservatory and we could not help wondering how the staff managed to serve so many seated people over a number of rooms so efficiently and pleasantly. One of our friends did not want the sauce that was served with the meat and within a minute a sauceless serving was smilingly presented. Those lucky enough to stay overnight rolled down to a proper Irish breakfast next day with every single item home produced and made, and where all the chat was about the harvesting of the apples to make Longueville Cider. Unfortunately we had no time to join the visitation to the orchard to see this process. As I said we left with very happy memories and carrying pots of the chef William's jams and special spice mixes.
