“Didn't want to leave!”
Reviewed 22 February 2014

We stayed here as a sort of central base so we could explore Cobh and Cashel for awhile. Midleton ended up being a very nice, vibrant little town with a market on Saturdays that just saturates the air with the smell of fresh bread and smoked meats. If you go, please don't forget the hot chocolate! It's incredible!
The room was large, clean, and ensuite, which was much appreciated. There was wifi in the common areas that we could use. The breakfast Maria had out in the morning was a selection of nice cold meats, fresh bread, tea, yogurt, and a variety of fruits and cheeses. Good enough to fill you up until well into the afternoon.
The owners, Frank and Maria, were incredibly inviting and hospitable. They gave us advice on where to go and what routes to take to get there. We had a little problem with the heat in the room and the shower being cold, but Frank and Maria fixed it in no time! They apologized profusely and quickly resolved any issue we had.
We were truly sad to leave Midleton, we had a blast at the Maple Bar and just looking around all the little shops there. This was our favorite place to stay, hands down.

I stayed here with 50 teenagers while on school tour in the East Cork area. The area is well worth a visit and An Stor is the perfect base from which to work. It has a central location but is in a quiet area of Midleton town and within walking distance of everything.
Before our arrival Maria sent me a floor plan (including Health and safety points) so I could assign rooms to my (mixed) group. The hostel also has strategically placed rooms for teachers and supervisors!
From the moment we arrived we felt at home. Rooms are clean, bright, warm and en-suite. There was plenty of hot water in spite of our large numbers and of course wifi was appreciated by our students.
As a large group we had the freedom of the whole place, including the kitchen which is very well-equipped. There is a large sitting room which was perfect for meetings before and after our outings and visits. The piano was also put to good use in the evenings...
The owners, Frank and Maria were never too far away in case we needed them but were never intrusive....
I would definitely recommend it if you are travelling with a group. East Cork is a fantastic area to visit and An Stor ticks all the boxes as a base. I will be returning with another group of Transition Years!

We rented a more than acceptable family room with a basic but clean bathroom at a very reasonable price. However, this hostel was let down by the living area. We went down to the living room in the evening to find a member of staff clued to the television at such a high volume we couldn't stay and had to leave. The common areas are reasonably well equipped but not exactly cosy.

I was down in Midleton to do some business and I didn't fancy paying 95E for an Hotel room so I was recommended the AnStor Hostel. I was with My wife so I booked a double en-suite. They have 11 rooms all with en-suite and the owners are so friendly. I met Frank (owner) at Reception and he explained the area and showed me to our room. It was very clean and for 50Euro (40 Stg)
this is real value.
Breakfast was fine - You get a light continental breakfast which is perfect. Fresh food is all you need.

The owner is in the process of making upgrades to the place so" I will be back" as they say in all good films.

Room Tip: All 11 rooms are en-suite including the Dorms- great value

I have to say that I was impressed with this premises. Well facilitated, quiet warm and cozy. Really very comfortable. Anyone who finds reason to be critical of An Stor definitely has issues. It is in a word brilliant! There area around this Hostel is very well served with excellent pubs and eatery's however the kitchen is clean and well appointed. I you fancy a top class T-Bone Steak, Frank is the man in Middleton to talk to.Don't miss out!

Room Tip: They are all good!

Great Hostel, reasonably priced and very clean. Stayed with a couple of friends on trip to Cork over Easter. Great location - easy to get in to the city and good beaches nearby.

Myself and my Fiance spent a week in An Stor last week. . The room was lovely, clean, good size en-suite and the owners were very pleasant and helpfull. The hostel is situated perfectly just around the corner from the lovely town centre and only a short bus journey from Cork city centre. We will definitly be staying there again. What more could you want. GREAT value for money.

Room Tip: All rooms are en-suite so any room in An Stor a good room. .
