On our first night in Kinsale we had a fantastic dinner at Jim Edwards. We had the pan fried hake and the lamb shank, both were delicious. The portions are very generous and served with several side dishes. We had a feast. The servers are polite and friendly. The restaurant is crowded and a bit loud but overall a good atmosphere.

Husband had fish and chips and I had pan fried hake. The restaurant was completely booked so we were seated in the pub which was very family friendly - unfortunately we sat near a somewhat active table w/ toddlers, so it was a little loud and a bit of a wait. But the food was good - pub food is the same as the restaurant's. Miine was good. Not great. But my husband loved his fish and chips.

good meal, good service - we were seated at a table for two in the bar area, we had more food than table space. We made it work. Bar side was quieter than the restaurant side, we appreciated this so we could easily converse.

Someone recommended this establishment over fishy fishy and it was well worth it. Great hamburger & fresh strawberries. Service was great. We did find fishy fishy & it actually smelled like fish which is never a good thing.

I started going to Jim Edwards when I was a child in the 1980s and just recently returned there this week while on holidays in Kinsale. This is a mature and experienced restaurant that knows exactly what it is doing. The food is of excellent quality and absolutely delicious. The service is exemplary and the atmosphere warm and cosy. We visited as four adults and two children under five, in the evening. The waitress was very kind and friendly to the two small children. She offered to bring the their food whenever we liked and when it arrived it was not the usual piping hot (meaning the children could eat it straight away). The food and wine was delicious, everyone in our party was exclaiming about it all evening. Thank you Jim Edwards for yet another excellent food experience.
