Stayed for 3 nights and would defiantly recommend the trident rooms nice and clean nice ensure. Some parts of the hotel could do with a bit of a face lift, looking a little tired and outdated but would still recommend it. Good breakfast and dinner. The pool is located 5mins away in sister hotel Actons which is a disappointment and brings down the hotel I feel. Went only once as pool was extremely cold especially when you have children. The sauna steam rm was out of order and lockers for your stuff were broken. We would stay here again but not for leisure facility's

Dear Badger982,

Thank you for your review of the Trident Hotel.

I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay and that you found the dinner and breakfast good. I am sorry that you did not find the leisure facilities to your liking in our neighbouring hotel but hopefully this will be addressed when the planned refurbishment is complete. I do know that there was a heating issue with the pool which has now been addressed.

Thank you for your recommendation and I hope we will see you in the Trident before too long again.

Kind regards,

Hal McElroy

Had a great view overlooking the bay (room 220). The staff were friendly and very helpful, I would agree that this hotel is a little tired looking, and I probably wouldn't class it as a 4* but it was clean and the beds were comfy. Good choice at breakfast, great location,

My hubby and I just returned to the UK from an Ireland family convergence. We decided before the craziness started to fly into Cork and spend a few days at the Trident Hotel alone. It was an easy drive from the Cork airport to Kinsale Bay, which is a beautiful seaside town. Very quaint. There are lots of cute shops and restaurants, and a trip to the fort on the other side of the Bay is well worth the effort.

The Trident was nice but a little dated. It was clean, the staff was okay, the bar was great for nightcaps...so overall, I might recommend it. Our heater was not working so I was quite cold. Even after we told the staff it still never got warm enough in the room for me to sleep without two sweatshirts. I'm not sure if I would go back there again. There was another hotel that a friend recommended that we would try next before returning to the Trident.

Location-wise though...it can't be beat. It has the best location in Kinsale for a seaside view.

Room Tip: It's worth the extra money for a harbour view room on the top floor.

my brother had his wedding reception here.

It was a nice, clean and freindly hotel.

they messed up our rooms putting one of us in a twin room and 2 of us in a single room but we sorted it out ourselves.

Staff very helpful. onsite bar with good food. short walk into town.

Breakfast was amazing. great view over the harbour.

Room Tip: ask for a harbour view if you can.

The Trident hotel was average. Firstly asked for room with view of harbour got a room with a view of a house which was very noisy with traffic. Room ok, clean. Breakfast good but staff unfriendly. My main complaint is we booked 2 nights b&b and 1 dinner. Dinner was served in The Wharf Tavern told restaurant was closed. Service was very bad, starter was followed immediately by mains no time in between courses and then when we finished our main course we waited 30 minutes for dessert menu, had to get the waitress attention in the end and lounge not full by any means. We felt we could get pub grub any day of the week and this is what it felt like. We have had many hotel breaks but did not expect this service from a 4* hotel. Staff at reception desk very unfriendly. Would definitely not return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on 2nd or 3rd floor overlooking the harbour.
