While our room and bathroom were a little on the small side, and the appliances ancient (the TV didn't work, but that was OK!), the beds were comfortable, and the view gorgeous. A short and picturesque walk along the harbour wall from the centre of the very pretty, and hilly, Kinsale was nicely fuelled by the excellent breakfasts included in our 3 night stay, a very good midweek offer. Smoked salmon and a variety of cheeses with brown bread offer a lovely alternative to the hot breakfast menu, which my daughter assured me was very tasty (having tried everything on it!). It is a great base from which to explore West Cork, and Kinsale itself is worthy of a day's exploration, with good restaurants and the most wonderful farmer's market, as well as lots of pretty little shops and great walks with lots of historical interest thrown in. Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, and though the car park looks small, we had no trouble parking there when returning in the evening. Bar food available at the hotel filled the gap on our arrival on the first evening, but I would recommend going further afield for a true West Cork culinary experience. A nice hotel, we would consider it again as a midweek break.
