I stayed at Actons for one night prior to flying out of the Cork airport the next morning. I arrived later in the evening and found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. I had dinner at the bar in the hotel and it was delicious. Very nice atmosphere looking out at the harbor. The room was very modern and nice. I understand it was just redone recently. The bed was so comfortable! I had a Harbor view and it was definitely worth the extra few dollars. The bathroom was also modern and nice. Breakfast in the morning was good. They had some items in a buffet and you could also order off the menu. I had the French toast and it was very good. Would stay again.

Actons is down near the water and close to everything in Kinsale. The service is the reason I gave it such high marks. Rooms are good but the staff is absolutely first class. Breakfast is included in the price.

We stayed in the Actons or 3 nights as a part of a golfing tour. Kinsale is a lovely village and the Actons enjoys a great location. The quality of the rest is very average. The room (Superior, view on the harbour) had the most unhandy bathroom (door turning wrong side) and the floor was incredibly squeaky. The breakfast was poor - i still don't understand what they did with the Full Irish i had the first day. It was overcooked but every single possible way. The bar closed very early, no atmosphere at all. Summarising, good place to sleep in Kinsale.

Rooms of reasonable size and furnishingings with excellent cleanliness but lacked drawer/shelf space for storage, so had to live out of suitcase. Kinsale has an extensive range of cafe/restaurants some quite close to Hotel and all serving excellent fare at competetive prices, but the Hotel dining room was amongst the most expensive and lacked flair, which was a great pity. Brekfasts were O/K but awfully slow service

Room Tip: An up-grade to Sea View is well worth the extra cost.

After having lunch at the newly refurbished Actons earlier in the year we decided that we would spend the first night of our May holiday here to see if the rest of the hotel was as good as the bar food. We drove over from Dublin getting to the hotel just before 9 in the evening. The Receptionist was very welcoming and friendly and suggested we go and order bar food before going up to the room so that we didn't miss out. We did exactly that and then went to see the room - it was gorgeous with lovely views over the harbour and a huge double shower.Back down to the bar where our drinks were waiting for us and a few minutes later our food arrived too absolutely scrummy and the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. This was so different to our experience last year in another chain hotel in the area.
Room was great with a large comfy bed and extra pillows -breakfast must have changed since some of the previous reviews as it was only the cold food that was on the buffet - our order for hot breakfast was taken quickly and the portions were generous and well cooked - nothing at all to complain about.
We will definitely be back and for more than one night in the future
Thanks very much to Actons

Room Tip: Would definitely the rooms at the back have a lot less appealing views than those on the front

We stayed here for 3 nights and can't believe the previous review-we had 3 rooms and none of us heard or saw any wedding guests. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were comfortable with lovely views. The price was extremely reasonable-would recommend this place wholeheartedly.

A party of four adults on a six day tour of South West Ireland. We flew into Cork and our first stop was at Kinsale - a favourite location for us but our friends had never been there. We decided to stay at Actons and were not disappointed. An excellent location overlooking the harbour and we had rooms at the front of the hotel with wonderful views. Room facilities standard for a 4 star hotel with the king size bed really comfortable. Staff excellent and a relaxing lounge and bar area. The only negative was the quality of the breakfast which was by far the least enjoyable of the other hotels and B & Bs of our trip. It was not freshly cooked and appeared warmed up sitting on the hot plates. No soda bread either. Only a small negative but worth noting. We would not hesitate in staying at the Acton again when next in Kinsale.

Room Tip: Get a room at the front of the hotel with views over the bay and harbour.
