We spent the night here on our driving trip around Ireland. We couldn't get reservations at the two places we had chosen to eat, so we ate at the Actons restaurant/lounge. We were very pleased. The food and service were very good. The hotel is right on the bay, so there was a nice view from the room. Unlike many of the B&Bs we stayed at, this place had a bathroom you could turn around in. Very nice. Actons is a very short walk to the many shops and pubs. We stopped in at Kitty O' Shea's and had a great time drinking and dancing.
Breakfast in the morning was good and well presented.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel during our 2 weeks in Ireland. It was a bit mild in Ireland during this time (25C). The hotel had no air conditioning and opening the windows did nothing to cool the rooms. They only were able to provide a small fan but even if it was a very large fan, it would have done nothing.

The hotel was unbelievably warm and uncomfortable. It was not possible to stay in the rooms at all. The front desk told us all guests were complaining and dealing with the same situation and that it was not just our room.

My wife and I actually left the hotel without staying the night and went to a B&B.
The front desk was very understanding and even called and paid for our taxi to the B&B.

I think in better weather conditions, this would be a GREAT hotel to stay in. Just be sure to check the weather and make sure it's not too much into the 20 degrees (c).

stayed in actons for two nights, from check in to check out this hotel ticked all the boxes, excellent menu both day and evening, breakfast menu you really are spoiled for choice, pool is fabulous, clean, staff very friendly.the heat in the room was a little too warm at night even though wwe sleep with the windows open although maybe that was because we had a room on top floor, but then in fairness we had beaytiful view of kinsale marina/harbour.the only fault i could find was the parking ,we did find a space each evening eventually but it was a little stressful wondering where to park if we couldnt find a space at hotel.i would recommend this hotel for couples and families with teens,.its a great base to explore the area then come back for an evening swim before dinner.

Room Tip: i would book to the back and maybe first floor for quiet and to keep the room cool.

Great location
Leisure centre fab
Any room at rear of hotel need to be avoided. We didn't sleep a wink due to the "Wine Bar"(pub)on the street outside. Roaring and shouting until all hours
Double windows didn't even keep out the noise
The room was stifling hot and we were given an a/c unit and this helped a bit in our room. In our kids'ajoining room there wasn't even a window that could be opened
Breakfast was a selection of cereals meats cheeses pastries and fruit. We tried the full irish and found it to adjust ok. Very tough sausages and very thick rashers. Eggs, Fried scrambled and poached were very tasteless. Definitely not free range. Tried the eggs benedict. Wholemeal muffin tasted burned and poached egg was bland
Waffle was nice
Pancake was burned

Leisure centre staff were very nice

Would stay again but would bring ear plugs and an extra a/c unit!!!

The hotel itself is modern and the public areas are tastefully appointed and welcoming - staff are helpful and friendly. The room unfortunately was a great let-down. It was very small indeed with nowhere to sit and be comfortable apart from one hard backed chair by the desk. Worse though was the heat in the room - absolutely unbearable. The windows hardly open, and although it was fairly cool outside by the evening, the room remained like an oven. This caused a further problem in that the rooms at the back of the hotel overlook a street with a number of bars and restaurants. With the windows open, the noise from late night revelers was a real nuisance and caused a very poor night's sleep. Air conditioning is desperately needed!

Breakfast in the morning was good - self-service buffet of cereals, fruit etc while the tea and cooked items are ordered from the wait staff. There was a good choice of hot dishes, even two kinds of fish.

The pool area was good, although you need to walk across the car park to access it. Not all the features were working unfortunately, but the sauna and steam room were a bonus. This is most definitely one of the best aspects of this hotel.

I wouldn't stay again - I'd look for somewhere more comfortable.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms overlooking the street behind the hotel.
