We stayed at The Old Bank House two nights.
We arrived after 6. Good news? Parking spot on street right in front of hotel (parking on street free from 6:00ish to 10:00 am. Paid parking thereafter. Bad news? No reception service at that hour and building locked up. We had to trundle to sister hotel Blue Haven a few doors down. A bit of an inconvenience.
Rooms spacious, clean, linens good.
Staff good. Breakfast very nice - try banana pancake. But breakfast room a bit crowded. One of our rooms had a marathon toilet - ran seemingly forever.
Highly recommend as a mid-range hotel in a great town.
When we saw the note on the door instructing us to 'go to the Blue Haven down the street to register' we were a Tad concerned. The building is very old...antique. But the staff were so pleasant and helpful, the breakfast was scrumptious, the room was clean, the location was perfect and the price was right! However, I would check the rates at the Blue Haven and stay there if not much more...I didn't see the rooms there but liked that there was a restaurant and bar with entertainment in the same building. One own side, no hotel parking but there is a free public parking 4 minute walk away .. Or meters outside the Building.
The place is lovely and it's right in the middle of town. My boyfriend had a club sandwich which was huge and looked great! Needless to say he finished every bit. I had the beef sandwich. I asked for no mayo so I sent it back the first time when it came out with lots of mayo. Honest mistake, so it's not something that would put me off. However, the second sandwich that came out was not great. The beef was really stringy, tough and just not edible at all so I ended up with mixed leaves in a ciabatta. I felt like a pain but when it's ten euro for a sandwich there should be more in it the lettuce. The chips were really good fat and rustic chips! The waitress was really nice, friendly and helpful. Everything was fine except the beef so I would recommend it alright but maybe avoid the beef.
Really nice stay in central Kinsale. We stayed in the Postmaster Suite which faces the road and is large and sunny.
It's directly above the post office though, so we were woken at 6am with the mail delivery. Not very noisy, just compared to the very quiet night.
Breakfast in the cafe downstairs was very nice. Great omelette and scrambled eggs.
Only negatives would be the very inconsistent pricing (was quoted three different prices) and the huge ancient television in the room. Very poor picture and only three channels, but it's huge and takes up loads of space. Hopefully they'll modernise that soon.
Tip for Kinsale - For a lovely wine bar and charcuterie head to The Black Pig.
We stayed one night here and can't say enough good things about the room, the staff, the food and the service were all great.
Beautiful decor with very comfortable beds, huge windows and spacious bathroom. Good shower pressure and delicious shower gel/shampoo/body lotion.
The only small downside is that we couldn't turn off the heating so had to open the windows, but we reported it and I'm sure it will be fixed.
The restaurant staff at the Blue Haven couldn't have been nicer or more attentive, and the food was yummy.
