“Old charm”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

Here is a small, quaint hotel in an old building on the main street of town. Forget using you GPS to locate this hotel, just open your eyes and look for the sign. This town doesn’t believe in obviously numbering their buildings nor do they have obvious street signs, but the village AND the hotel are worth visiting. From the Old Bank hotel one can easily walk to any attraction in the village (churches, bars, restaurants, shopping), and you’ll experience jumping back in time by 100 years! Rooms are modestly decorated with large windows looking over the town. Windows open. Beds are comfortable, bathroom is clean, and there is a lift if you’re not in the mood for taking the stairs. WiFi was strong, even on the 3d floor. There is a coffee/bakery shop on the ground floor, and that’s where you go to meet the person who will register you. If you arrive during off hours, there is signage at the locked door as to where register (down the block—but easy to find). Friendly staff cook and serve your breakfast to order. I loved this place and would recommend it if you like the small-hotel appeal.

our happy but tired group of 4 motorcyclists arrived a little late, but to a very warm welcome and brilliant accommodation. Unique rooms with quirky furnishings. Comfy bed, great views amazing breakfast. They even took our food order by email whilst we were 4hrs away on the ferry to Ireland from UK. A gem. A real gem.

Room Tip: I had a room on the front. Lovely views.

We were fortunate to be given an excellent room overlooking the street. Very comfortable, clean and great bed. Breakfast was the best we had in Ireland. The deli store at the front of the restaurant had all the local products at a very reasonable price. Would recommend this accommodation and restaurant.

We only stayed here one night, but it was a nice clean room with a nice view of the street. Room was quiet and comfortable with a big bead. Staff was friendly and the breakfast at the cafe was tasty and filling.

We stayed at The Old Bank House two nights.
We arrived after 6. Good news? Parking spot on street right in front of hotel (parking on street free from 6:00ish to 10:00 am. Paid parking thereafter. Bad news? No reception service at that hour and building locked up. We had to trundle to sister hotel Blue Haven a few doors down. A bit of an inconvenience.
Rooms spacious, clean, linens good.
Staff good. Breakfast very nice - try banana pancake. But breakfast room a bit crowded. One of our rooms had a marathon toilet - ran seemingly forever.
Highly recommend as a mid-range hotel in a great town.

When we saw the note on the door instructing us to 'go to the Blue Haven down the street to register' we were a Tad concerned. The building is very old...antique. But the staff were so pleasant and helpful, the breakfast was scrumptious, the room was clean, the location was perfect and the price was right! However, I would check the rates at the Blue Haven and stay there if not much more...I didn't see the rooms there but liked that there was a restaurant and bar with entertainment in the same building. One own side, no hotel parking but there is a free public parking 4 minute walk away .. Or meters outside the Building.

Room Tip: We stayed in 33... Not a pleasant view but quiet.

The place is lovely and it's right in the middle of town. My boyfriend had a club sandwich which was huge and looked great! Needless to say he finished every bit. I had the beef sandwich. I asked for no mayo so I sent it back the first time when it came out with lots of mayo. Honest mistake, so it's not something that would put me off. However, the second sandwich that came out was not great. The beef was really stringy, tough and just not edible at all so I ended up with mixed leaves in a ciabatta. I felt like a pain but when it's ten euro for a sandwich there should be more in it the lettuce. The chips were really good fat and rustic chips! The waitress was really nice, friendly and helpful. Everything was fine except the beef so I would recommend it alright but maybe avoid the beef.
