“Something different”
Reviewed 24 March 2014 via mobile

We just fancied something different and a tapas wine bar fit the bill perfectly.
It was a great atmosphere, but maybe a bit loud but that wasn't their fault. The menu is great and varied and they are happy to help you choose if you want help.
We had a bottle of wine, a deli board starter to share and 3 tapas dishes for the main for the two of us. It was just enough and we had room for a shared chocolate pot and coffees. All came to 67 euro which is good value for money. Very nice night.

“A lovely alternative to the "three course" meal.”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

MY first experience of this restaurant and, I hope, not my last. I was unsure of what to expect as I had really only eaten tapas before in Spain. I was certainly not disappointed. My wife and I were having a night away from home (without the children) and she chose this spot on a friend's recommendation.
We arrived earlier than our booking but within a couple of minutes were seated side by side in the front section on a spacious "loveseat" for two. We took our time deliberating over what to have and we chose five different items - king prawns, calamari rings, serano ham bruschetta, tandoori chicken and patatas bravas. My wife had a glass of sauvignon blanc while I chose a rioja red. Most of the dishes complemented each other very well - I thought the bruschetta was rather dry but when combines with the patatas tasted very pleasant. The prawns and calamari were delicious. Our only error was the tandoori which, of itself, was very tasty, but overpowered the other dishes, as we were mixing as we went along.
The venue was getting quite busy but we were not rushed when we decided to have a breather before sampling the dessert menu. There was a nice buzz with many guests eating while others were just having a drink, all in a very relaxed atmosphere.
Ah yes, the dessert. When I saw the price I was thinking basic and small portion. Not a bit of it. The tiramisu and chocolate pot were both on slate dishes with accompanying biscuits and slivers of chocolate cake for the pot. The portions were decent and very tasty. A nice way to finish off the meal.
All in all, a lovely evening and one which we hope to repeat in the not too distant future.

“Excellent wines and tapas”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

Our first dinner in Ireland, and it was wonderful. Excellent wines and the tapas selection was very good. We enjoyed the rustic bread and olives, the ruby port filet tips and loved the cod goujons. Our service was impeccable, and we felt at home. Highly recommend this restaurant.

“Great afternoon snack”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

Lovely spot with quick service and kind staff. We stopped in for tea and had a tasty snack and cup of tea. The rest of the crowd were locals in for an early dinner or a glass of wine. We enjoyed the spot

“We dont do pressure!”
Reviewed 6 August 2013

We were the first in early in the evening and were given a warm welcome and invited to sit wherever we went. Menus were handed out and table water was quickly brought to the table unprompted. I like when water is brought and your not just being asked if you would like to order drinks...cha-ching. We soon ordered a bottle of wine and werent rushed with ordering. The woman who served us was a delightfully warm person and offered advice and detailed info if asked about anything on the menu.
Soon enough the place filled which added to the atmosphere but this service remained prompt. They have the happy habit of making sure your not forgotton about and dont enter into these aversion tactics a lot of waiting staff employ when they get busy. Service here was as if the staff had a vested interest in the place as if it were a family run place. When the place was in full flow i heard our waitress reply to someones comment ''we dont do pressure'' which was spot on because as busy as they got the remained efficient and always served with a smile on their face. Dont confuse we dont do pressure with we dont step it up and plod on at the same pace because they certainly do. The staff worked with a symmetry and good unspoken understanding which just helped the whole thing flow.
Oh the food!! there were 4 of us and i must say everyone agreed that every tapas ordered was top notch. My favourites were Flash Fried King Prawns, Cod Goujons,Monkfish Scampi, and salt&pepper calamari. We let our first round of tapas settle, drank more wine before going for rd2 in the food stakes. Bill came to a very reasonable amount. It would be the first place i would go to again of an evening in Kinsale. Food and service of a very high standard.
