“A food highlight”
Reviewed 26 July 2013

After enjoying the local festival in Kinsale one recent sunny weekend, we dropped in without a reservation to The Shack based on a recommendation from our B&B owner.

Wow....so glad we did! Despite the restaurant being quite busy, they managed to find us a table within minutes and we immediately felt comfortable in the lovely, vibrant atmosphere of the smallish restaurant.

Service was faultless, considering the two girls on the floor were very busy. They always had time to stop, check our drinks, have a chat and offer their recommendations.

I would have to say that this meal was among the best we had on our five week trip. Made from obviously fresh produce, the dishes were simply perfect - waaaay better than we expected. Coupled with the brilliant personalised service, and very reasonable prices this restaurant is a winner.

Do yourself a favour........

“Yummy and not over priced!”
Reviewed 19 July 2013

Our last night in Kinsale, my family dined here on the recommendation of Philip McEvoy, the owner of The Old Presbytery B&B. He was right. Great food and priced right. Thanks Philip!

“Great food, friendly atmosphere”
Reviewed 10 July 2013

we hadn't booked but were shown to a table with no delay. The place was jumping and we were delighted with the efficiency & friendliness of the service. Food is reasonably priced and very good. Forget the hyped places - this is the one for me.

“Kinsale food at its best!”
Reviewed 8 July 2013 via mobile

Stopped in here unplanned and glad we did. Excellent food at the right price. Simple menu and no fuss.
Blue Burger done medium with mushroom sauce was the best I have tasked in a long time. Enchilada just as nice..
Friendly efficient service.
We will be back next time we stop in Kinsale.

“Excellent menu, food, dessert, and service”
Reviewed 5 July 2013

This quaint little restaurant served one of the best meals we've had in a restaurant. The bright, playful décor made for a pleasant and relaxing evening. The menu had many different types of food, and once it arrived we were extremely impressed with the presentation and taste of everything on the table. The meal was topped off with what was, quite possibly, the tastiest chocolate brownie I've ever had. I want to visit Kinsale again, just so I can eat at The Shack again!
