Was looking for caffeine and sugar fix and found this place! Lattes here are the best and lemon meringue to die for!

The old bank house café has a deli at the front and a comfortable seating area out the back. It’s a beautiful relaxing venue, especially suited for an afternoon coffee after a leisurely stroll around the ickildy pickildy streets of Kinsale. The large south facing bay window lights the café with warm inviting rays of sunshine. Plain sailing so far, I hear you say, well that’s until you hit the anti-cyclonic conditions, otherwise known as the food. Your best option is to purchase the pre-made blue haven sandwiches from the deli at the front. Its unusual that someone would recommend pre-made over fresh made, but in this case ordering from the kitchen would be akin to sailing without a life jacket. We arrived late on a Sunday afternoon, the friendly, but curt, manageress reminded us that it was 3:50pm and the kitchen would be closing at 4pm. Its never a good idea to order food, when you can imagine the kitchen staff are itching to bolt out the gap. It’s probably no harm in a family run kitchen.
I choose the soup de jour, and a chicken salad sandwich. The soup was a pea and smoked bacon combination. I can safely say it was the second worst bowl of soup I have ever tasted in public in my entire life. You could definitely get the smoked bacon, and it was as green as the incredible hulks sleeve. Incredibly it didn’t taste that salty. My sandwich was good. My compadre had a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, which they mutated with milk, and a bacon and brie sandwich. I think we were unlucky and we visited on the wrong day at the wrong time. Soup and Sandwiches are moderately priced. I didn't touch my soup but I still received the bill.

ok so i didnt stay in the hotel but i did go for coffee twice in the cafe and both times the service was shocking, the first time we arrived at 4pm and was promptly told no food available before being asked what we wanted! only wanted tea and coffee then the waitress went to the next table and took a food order!!! second time around the same time the waitress looked at her watch TWICE while taking our order and rolled her eyes at us when first went in, realy i should have took this as a sign and left but it was lashing rain and we only wanted a hot beverage. obviously my money is not good enough for them and my service not needed will not be back and will not be recommending the place to anyone. All the staff want to do it get out the door on time and they have no worries letting the customers know that.
