The Woodlands House is a newer house, but I didn't get the feeling of "luxury" that some of the previous reviewers mentioned. Our room was very cramped. However, I think they added a portable cot to our room to make a triple into a quad. Nonetheless, we barely had enough room to walk through the room if our suitcases were open. We couldn't use the armoire because the table and chairs blocked the door. The bathroom was also small. The owners were difficult to locate. When we arrived the owner was very matter of fact. ("Here's your room. Try and not scratch the hardwood floors. They're real.") They did mention their daughter had gotten married the week prior to our visit, so maybe they were still distracted with that.

On the positive side, the house is in a quiet residental area. The whole house was clean (and, as previously mentioned, new). Breakfasts was quite good.

Overall, I definitely felt a lack of hospitality and overall warmth that we encountered at other B&Bs.

We drove through town to the Woodlands house and were already impressed before we even went inside. It is a beautiful house and has ample space for parking. This was definitely the nicest B&B we stayed at throughout our one week trip through Ireland and we would definitely stay here again. The room was nicely decorated, comfortable and quiet. I would definitely recommend taking the card for the Kinsale taxis though as the walk up the hill from the town is a good hike...especially at night. It was really easy to call a cab though and they were there in a few minutes. Lovely breakfast menu that gives you even a few choices outside the traditional Irish breakfast. Overall, we loved it!!

Hi,

We stayed here last weekend and really enoyed our stay, The rooms are very comfortable and they were decorated lovely and modern, The bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was really nice, and the owners are very friendly and not too intrusive.
I would definitly stay here again.
A cab cost 5 euro to get from the town to the B& B, its within walking distance, but up hill when walking back, so a cab is handy.

Deirdre from Ireland.

On arriving at Woodlands, where we stayed for 2 nights, my husband and I were ushered into a lovely sitting room and offered tea and oatmeal cookies. The hosts were very helpful indeed, finding us places along our route when we left and even making the calls for us.
Rooms, well where do I start.? Ours was absolutely beautiful.
A double bed and single bed, table and chairs, arm chair. Tea and coffee facilities. Plenty of mirrors, real wood bedroom furniture on wood floors with rugs. Roomy bathroom with fluffy white towels and complementary toiletries. Hairdryer and TV etc.
Food was good and plentiful with lots of choice. Our room had a view of Kinsale harbour. Lovely gardens, plentiful parking.
The only drawback was the hill to walk up from the town. It is a 5-10 minute walk down to the very busy and congested Kinsale village but you need to be fit to climb back up to Woodlands. Watch the traffic too because sometimes the pavements disappear and you find yourself walking on the road.
Woodlands was almost the best place we stayed in in Ireland but for 1 other which was 5 euros more expensive per person per night. Don't miss driving along the scenic coastal route from Kinsale to Inchydoney Beach. It takes a while but it is worth it. Eating out in Kinsale? Try the Shack it's reasonable with fantastic food. I had pan fried hake....memorable !! Some restaurants in Kinsale are outrageously expensive.

Beautiful, spotlessly clean, quiet but convenient location, great hospitality, big fluffy towels, excellent food and as someone else mentioned, Valerie gives great directions! We stayed on a bank weekend and Brian and Valerie went out of there way to find us dinner reservations when everything was full. I would highly recommend staying with them. Don't know why TA has this listed under hotels----it is definitely a B&B--and nicer than most hotels!

Just returned from a long weekend at Woodlands B&B Kinsale. This is a lovely place to stay. Rooms were large and airy and very well furnished. The house was spotlessly clean, there was a good choice at breakfast and the hosts were helpful and friendly.
There is plenty of parking and the location was lovely and peaceful. It was a walk uphill from town centre but taxis are quite cheap.
I Would most certainly recommend this place to anyone who likes a bit of luxury and at a good price.
