On a visit to south east Ireland recently we found this restaurant almost by accident. We had seen it advertised in the local guides but when we arrived in Kinsale were unsure where to find it. We walked down one of the little streets near the quay and stumbled upon one of the most unassuming restaurant gardens you could ever come across. As the weather was a little changeable we chose to sit inside. The restaurant was very busy and catered well for all ages. We ordered their haddock fillet and chips and I have to say it was second to none! Very filling and beautifully cooked. The staff were very pleasant and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and will go back when we next visit Ireland.

Several people recommended we dine at Fishy Fishy while in Kinsale. It has a fresh and trendy decor, it is very busy from 6-8pm, reservations a must. The menu is almost all seafood with a few other items. My husband had fish and chips which he said was some of the best, however my risotto was overcooked and gummy. Our server was warm and friendly and described the local fish we were unfamiliar with. The hostess/front manager was quite unwelcoming.

I ate here on Monday afternoon with a friend. When we arrived there were no staff in the main entrance part of the restaurant. We stood waiting for a minute or two, when the host arrived he was quite cold and abrupt with us and told us we were not allowed to eat outside. Even though there were lots of tables and the weather was good?! We went inside and sat at a table squashed next to the till. I ordered a chowder. This tasted more like tomato soup. There was not one decent piece of fish in the whole thing. The bits of fish were just kind of shredded into the chowder. The one plus I can say here is we got a decent portion of bread served with the soup and the bread was tasty. Served with butter and houmous, in an oyster shell, which was nice. My friends fish and chips was ok.....but certainly not worth the 17/18euro we paid for it. Staff were not very attentive and lacked a bit of personality. Would not be recommending this place....

On a rainy Wednesday, we decided we had to go to Fishy Fishy, as it's mentioned everywhere and so highly recommended. With only two days in Kinsale, we had to check this off our list. We are asked to wait, which is no big deal and we didn't have to wait very long.

We had the seafood chowder which we both thought was very flavorful! Hard to tell what was in it, but found it very tasty. We shared the huge bowl of mussels (there is plenty for two!!!) and they were excellent! The sauce they are cooked in was delicious and I could have had it as soup!! It comes with a container of fries, which was plenty of food for a not terribly filling lunch.

The service was a bit slow, but as mentioned, it was raining, and we had nowhere we needed to be!

Would totally go back there for the mussels alone.

Have always wanted to try this restaurant. Very excited. Went with husband and cousins from Cork. Could not decide what to have Such a good menu. Two of us settled on haddock and chips. Melted in the mouth. Other two had monkfish and fish pie. We all could happily try every thing on menu. Bought Martin Fishy Fishy cookery book so will try to create some of recipes at home.
