“High quality food and room, true luxury”
Reviewed 30 August 2010

This has been recently taken over by new owners so this needs to be considered when looking at other reviews. This is a very modern building furnished to a high spec for a guest house. The irish breakfast was freshly cooked and really delicious. Highly recommended. Only downside is its slightly out of the town centre but in walking distance and has ample parking

A very friendly family atmosphere. We had difficulty finding the B&B however a phone call to Martin and he came and showed us the way which was most appreciated. The room was spacious with ensuite. It was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast very nice. Ruth gave us excellent directions to continue our journey. Both Martin and Ruth were very convivial and happy to engage in conversation.

Roomy, quiet, clean and comfortable. Basic furniture, but the beds were comfortable and it was nice to have so much space. Breakfast was good. A bit out of town, but not too far (20 to 30 minutes walk) and at these rates it is great value for money.

We went here as a group of friends. We had orignally booked for more than showed up due to a family breavement of the few others. I tried ringing the place the night before and the next morning as we also needed directions. We ended up looking for the place for over a hallf hour and then when we got there and explained the circumstances the owner there said he didnt care that we would charge us for the others.
He was very ignorant and very hesitant to listen to me.

All our guests receive our cancellation policy on booking. Unfortunately, these guests did not cancel and only informed us of the non arrival of some of the party when they arrived. As this left us with no time to fill the unoccupied rooms the cancellation policy was applied.

We were at a wedding and when we got back to the B&B our key wouldnt open the front door. We tried phoning but nobody answered, we also rang the doorbell. More than half an hour later we were let in by the owner. It ended up that the key we were given was faulty because even the owner of the B&B couldnt open the door from the outside. We got an apology but just about.

  • Liked — The breakfast was good
  • Disliked — The colour of our bedroom.

Our guest neglected to inform this site that his return from the wedding was after 3.30am in the morning. As neither the key nor the lock was found to be broken we will let readers of this review make up their own mind as to why the guest could not negotiate the front door. We are nonetheless happy for all our guests to enjoy all the functions they attend while staying with us.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Hartley Lodge in Carrick on Shannon in County Leitrim, in May 2008. It is a short drive from downtown Carrick on Shannon. The facility is a purpose built B&B, aprroximately 4 years old, run by Ruth and Martin, a mid 30'ish couple with three children.
Our double room was modern and utilitarian. It was spotlessly clean, as were the others we had occassion to view. It included a bathroom with a large shower and a television in the sleeping area. The dining room was quite comfortable with an adjoining sitting area and larger television for guests. The full Irish Breakfast was cooked to order and was quite good. We both loved Ruth's brown soda bread. The front courtyard provided more than adequate parking.
The Lodge provides a country setting, though one can see newish subdivisions closer to town. There were cows grazing on the adjoining property. An interesting stone two room cottage abuts the property. Ruth told us that 13 children were raised in it. The atmosphere was peaceful and quiet. An early morning walk provided beautiful views of the countryside without encountering any intrusions to the serenity of the place.
We found our stay to be both a good value and a warm experience.

We are always glad when our guests make a nice comment about our B&B. But we are very lucky when are guests are as lovely as our reviewers were.
