“Nice hotel in great little town”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2006

There aren't many hotels in this lovely little town but this is probably the best one (the staff at the "landmark hotel" were very rude). We had a lovely room (modern and clean) and the bar is comfortable and reasonably priced. We ate at the Italian restaurant down the road which was beautiful but the breakfast in the hotel the next morning was also good (but staff a little slow). We'd recommend this hotel if you're in the area.

The Bush is a traditional Irish country hotel. IThe front of the hotel is in the centre of the town, in an original building: at the rear, it opens out to road which is across from the Shannon river. The public spaces are pleasant, there is casual dining (cafe or bar) and more formal dining rooms. The ambiance and food are those of a traditional Irish country hotel: hearty rather than modern food, but good quality and very reasonable prices. The ambiance is traditional Irish (genuine rather than touristy!). A good hotel if you want to experience a medium-range Irish country hotel rather than an impersonal chain.

This hotel has failed to keep up with the times, it smells of decay, or is this just the dampness in the rooms. We spent a small fortune on air freshners to mask the smell of damp. The Restaurant service was poor, certainly the waitress staff were poorly trained, plates about to be served were carried on top of each other, so a dirty mark was left on the table when it was lais, the one underneath had a squashed look. The food was probably the worst I had during my 10 days stay. Everywhere the Steak was good and tender, here it was tough and grissly.WOULD ONLY STAY HERE AGAIN IN AN EMERGENCY
