“Excellent Food and Service with a smile”
Reviewed 27 September 2013

Stopped of with the family and because of ease of parking, which turned out to beside the hotel. The smell of food tempted us in and we were greet by an extremley freindly and helpful front of house manager "Joe". It was a saturday afternoon and it was quite busy but we were seated with a flourish and then served by a lovely waitress (sorry I forget her name). It was a set menu but when the food arrived it was lovely and they also did half portions for the kids. I had the chicken Maryland which was extremely tasty while my wife had traditional bacon and cabbage which she said was perfect. The kids had the bacon with carrots and mash with white sauce and cleared their plates. The pleasant surprise was the total came to under 50 euro. I will make a point of stopping here again.

“The aroma convinced us to dine here”
Reviewed 30 August 2013

Wandered in for a pint and some WiFi before we selected a dinner destination. The brilliant plates of food flying out of the kitchen and the great smells cinched the decision - we were on the list to move from the bar to a table. Menu and specials made the choices a challenge. The chef was offering a massive platter of 'bangers and mash' with caramelized onions and gravy and I was sold. I finished with a wonderful bowl of fresh fruit cocktail - skipped the cream and felt self righteous. Others tried beef - well reviewed and chicken maryland with veg was claimed the best dish. Service was pleasant and always available. Saw families and couples enjoying their outings. We walked out with a full stomach and a wallet that was not severely damaged.

“A great meal on a Saturday night out with the girls!”
Reviewed 19 May 2013

We visited last Saturday night as a party of 4 who came for a catch up / girls night out. The restaurant is split into different rooms. We were seated in one of the rooms and left with time to order from the set menu. We were chatting away having a catch up when the waitress returned for our orders so she gave us some more time.

The Saturday night menu was a set menu for a set price of approximately 25 euros and there was a good choice. For starters, a couple of us ordered smoked salmon and the others ordered garlic mushrooms, which we all enjoyed.

When we were sitting down enjoying our starters, a hen party who were staying at the hotel were seated near to us and they were very loud! Just chatting very loud so we could not hear ourselves over them, so we asked our waitress if she could move us. We did not want them disturbed as we all appreciate what hen party's are like and didn't want to spoil their fun (it was only a bit of noise).

We were moved to a table in the next room and when the door was closed, normal service was resumed for us. Then our main courses arrived, roast duckling with stuffing and orange sauce for two of us, chicken for one and turkey and ham for the other. All was served with seasonal vegetables and all were very tasty.

Throughout the meal the staff were attentive and kept topping up our wine and offering extra drinks. Finally on to dessert and coffee and we chose sherry trifle, citrus cheesecake and one of our party had profiteroles. Again all portions were plentiful and all tasted really good. Coffee too was good.

After eating, we weren't rushed out and the bill was not too much. We all enjoyed our meals and am sure we will return in due course.
