On a lark - saw it as a Groupon. The picture and the details of the offering were to good to refuse. I am glad I took advantage of it. Located 35 min from Shannon Airport (direct flt. from Boston). We used it as a jumping off point to the destinations we wanted to see and experience. Ballybunion, Lahinch were less than 1hr 15min away. The Adare Golf Club is on site and has hosted the Irish Open as recently as 2007 (Padraig Harrington) and 2008. Galway, The Cliffs of Moher, the Burren and Bunratty Castle are all within striking distance. The Adare Manor is a 5 star privately owned hotel and is a spectacle to behold. I can not speak to the rooms in the Manor as we stayed in a villa, but i was told they were well appointed. The Villas would be great for any of the following: family retreat, guys week of golf, spa retreat for couples or the girls or a destination wedding. Somewhat stark in their appointments, I assume the layout of each of them is similar - 3 bedroom, 4 full bath, full kitchen, TV in every room, patio and wildlife in the AM (pheasant, rabbits the size of dogs, etc). We spent a lot of time traveling around the countryside and used this as our home base, but you could use this venue as your escape as well. Again, It contains accommodation, spa, golf, restaurant(s), falconry, archery, biking - the list goes on. Two things of note: The Tack room which is the Manor's Pub has live music every night except Monday (shout out to Colm - crazy sob - lol) and Adare Itself is a very picturesque small town with some offerings in its own right. ( supposedly Albert the Villas Concierge exists, but never had the pleasure) Enjoy!

Adare Manor is truly exceptional. The grounds are beautiful, the food is delicious, and the service is excellent. We have stayed at a lot of lovely spots this summer in Ireland but none really compares to Adare Manor. My husband loved the golf course and my children loved the grounds. We will return again and again.

Room Tip: 307 was spacious and had a stellar view!

The Manor itself is spectacular, it's beyond beautiful and well maintained. Our room was 206 and the room was slightly cramped and the bathroom was almost the same size as the bedroom. I realize the manor layout probably prevented them from changing room size significantly but a strange layout nonetheless. Tack Room was excellent and live music was fantastic, drink prices were in line with what should be expected. The area where tea and lunch was served was empty the entire time we were there, we ate lunch one day and it was just OK....someone came in and asked for a drink, he didn't last long as the atmosphere isn't relaxed at all. They would be better off opening the bar downstairs more often I think. Grounds are second to none. Front of house staff could be a little more friendly and relaxed, I have stayed in plenty of 5 star hotels where the atmosphere doesn't need to be stuffy, especially when it comes to the staff. Nice overall experience, but I doubt I would stay on my next trip with the other options available in the area.

I'm reviewing the Manor as a 5 star as it was truly magical. However, we started out in the townhouses which were not magical. Briefly, the townhouses around the golf club house are not even close to on par (excuse the pun) with the Manor house. The one we were supposed to stay in was very dated, not particularly clean) and not worth the $. That said, when we complained, we eventually got the ear of the general manager who was lovely and found us a spot in the Manor.

That's where the stay gets wonderful. Our room was absolutely beautiful to every detail with an amazing view of the gardens. Bathroom was all marble with a fantastic fireplace. It was one of the best rooms I've ever stayed at and we have traveled far and wide. The service was excellent. Grounds were magical and so fun to explore.

The food was outstanding. Both dinner and breakfast were the best we had in our two weeks in Ireland. Hats off to the chef and staff for presenting a true "experience" at dinner.

This is the kind of place you remember forever.

Room Tip: Townhouses best suited for a group of guys going away golfing who don't care much about the acco...

We stayed at Adare Manor in May, and I have to say that it was without a doubt the best experience I have ever had at a resort on a trip. Every single thing was perfect, and the beauty of this place is simply stunning! From the time we arrived, we felt we had entered another world where friendliness and politeness were everywhere. The staff was so welcoming and gave us a delightful tour. We had a group of 5, and had 2 rooms in the Manor. The rooms were absolutely gorgeous and so comfortable. The decor was gorgeous, right down to the beautiful wood carvings on the walls and the stunning views out the windows. The turn down service at night was fabulous - I have never felt so pampered. The food was absolutely wonderful at every meal and at afternoon tea. The golf course was beautiful and not to be missed if you are a golfer. I have traveled to many spots in Europe, and 38 states in the U.S., and this is the best place I have ever stayed. I so want to go back! If you are thinking about going here, please know that it will be an experience of a lifetime. Please partake of the beauty of one of Ireland's grand estates and bask in the Irish hospitality here: truly a magical place!

Room Tip: Book a room in the manor, and if possible, ask for one with a view. Both our rooms were different b...

I stayed as part of a large group of golfers on a charity event in May. The hotel is stunning both in character and it's surroundings and I was lucky enough to have probably the best room in the hotel. Stunning views of the 18th green, river and the formal gardens.
The golf course is superb. Fantastic condition and with a varied selection of challenging holes. It was difficult to focus on the golf in such beautiful surroundings.
I will return.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the golf course/river. My room was on the 2 floor with views of the 18th green an...

We were travelling in a group of seven adults and children and booked two villas for convenience. The villas are well laid out and should have been perfect. Each unit had three bedrooms and three baths. Unfortunately both units were in serious need of renovation. Everything appeared scuffed and scratched. The lighting was insufficient to read by after dark. One shower door was stuck shut and, although reported, was never repaired. The water temperature in half the showers was on full hot and could not be controlled. This was not fixed. The floor in our unit was coming loose and the edges were curled. None of the units are air conditioned and heat was controlled from the office. We made reservations and had high tea one afternoon and dinner one night. Other than that we were not welcome in the manor. The villas have a concierge and although he was friendly and polite, nothing ever seemed to get done. This may be a five star resort, but to maintain that rating a lot more attention to detail needs to be done.
