“Authentic, genuine and a great experience”
Reviewed 8 February 2012

Stayed for two nights. Got a junior suite on the ground floor. Nice bar and a restaurant serving good local dishes. The room was clean with beautiful furniture, comfortable beds and a 37" (or possibly 40") LCD TV including Sky News and BBC2 from the UK. Multiple rooms with fireplaces available for free for social events. Great breakfast included in room rate. Altogether a very good stay in a nice and welcoming environment.

A wonderful hotel run by the most pleasant and helpful staff that I have ever encountered. Excellent food, both at breakfast and dinner. Beautiflly appointed rooms, with modern spacious bathrooms. Can not fault it in any way.

Our family celebrated my Father's 90th birthday with a private dinner for 50 at the Dunraven Arms Hotel on Friday last. The food, service and helpfulness and friendliness of the staff was first class - possibly the best I have experienced in Ireland in recent years. We would never consider an alternative venue for these occasions as our needs and expectations are always exceeded with grace and ease.

We had lunch here recently on a Sunday. It was such a lovely experience, the service is very good without being OTT. I had a beautiful liver parfait for starter and the renowned Dunraven beef for main. they were both fantastic. This is a really nice spot for a bit of a spoiling on a Sunday afternoon. The dining room was full for lunch in the middle of January which says it all really. We will be returning soon!!

My husband and I stayed for one night over the Christmas holidays for a family event in the hotel. We arrived particularly early from our redeye and the hotel was very accommodating and allowed us to check in at 7am. We ate a delicious breakfast from the buffet that contained many locally produced goods. Everything was fresh and delicious and the service was great. Our room was very large with a queen bed and a double in the room along with a full size couch. It was one of the biggest rooms I have ever stayed in. A minor complaint was the excessive heat that we did not appear to be able to control despite having a thermostat in the room. The bathroom was large but the toilet itself was so close to the wall at one side that you would hit your elbow sitting down. A strange configuration given the excessive space overall in the room and bathroom but not a deal breaker. I would recommend this hotel for nice relaxing breaks. The staff are helpful, friendly and gracious. For the price I doubt you can do better in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the ground floor - close to everything and very large

Myself and my wife stayed here for two nights, Saturday and Sunday mid January. We had an absolutely fabulous stay. Everything about this hotel is just what most larger hotels lack, certainly at this price banding. Three things jump out to make this such a great hotel;
1. The character of the hotel - whilst most of the bedroomsis are much newer and therefore lack some, the main hotel oozes genuine character, particularly reception area, the restaurant and the drawing rooms elsewhere through the hotel, the place really does have a sense of local history.
2. The food - we had our evening meal in the restaurant on the Saturday night. It really was first class, thick slices of roast beef cooked rare - almost melt in your mouth beef with real flavour, i've never had roast beef as good. Everything else that went with the meal was equally as good; a great table, very attentive and knowledgeable staff working very quietly but efficiently in the background, and an excellent meal from start to finish. And as others have also highlighted, the breakfast is no ordinary hotel breakfast, their own touches really seperate it from anything we've had before.
3. The staff - without exception, everyone came across as friendly, knowledgeable and very genuine, not a hint of being patronising or bored. The restaurant staff in particular were excellent, complimenting the whole experience wonderfully - they really made our stay,
If i had to try and identify any shortcomings, and set alongside the pluses they are irrelevant! - the spa in the pool isn't great, and it was a long walk to our room from the main hotel!
Thank-you to all the staff for facilitating such a great weekend for us in Adare.

Room Tip: We had a junior suite and it was excellent.
