“wonderful comfortable beds”
Reviewed 24 September 2012

Ive stayed in many hotels both in Ireland and abroad. I have never been in a more comfortable hotel bed. the mattress pad made it so comfy, wonderful pillows and with awonderful dinner and breakfast , my overnight stay was bliss.

Just a one night stay but it was enjoyable, this hotel is renowned for wedding receptions so if you are here other than on a Friday or Saturday, be prepared to share the bar etc with hundreds of wedding guests.

We had lunch in Timmy Mac's and a pleasant surprise that was with a full a-la-carte menu availabe along with the ubiquitous carvery, now that was a bonus as most Irish hotels will not offer anything other than a carvery at lunch time. The food was very good, wholesome and well cooked and served at reasonable cost.

We also had an excellent dinner that night in the Brennans Room restaurant (think that's the name as there seemed to be names on different rooms), well done to Maureen and the rest of the waiting staff as they served our group of 15 people very efficiently, again the food quality was terrific, this hotel enjoys a well deserved reputation for its food.

The bedroom was verl large but as noted elsewhere it was in need of a facelift as it was showing its age in the area of fixtures and fittings, same again for the bathroom, clean but in need of modernisation.

For me one major snag, the mattress was way too soft and along with extremely soft pillows made for an uncomfortable nights sleep, these things are personal preferences though and may suit lots of other people.

Breakfast was served in Timmy Mac's and that got very busy with the morning after the wedding crowd, food was very good but let down by being deposited in hot bins if you wanted the full Irish, again the service was very good and a mention to Annette for her attention to detail.

Distance to Adare village is probably 5 minutes drive and there is no alternative unless you call a taxi, that might be the best option as car parking in Adare is almost impossible.

This hotel has plenty of free car parking and there were signs warning not to leave stuff on show in your car so there may have been problems as you may me be parked a distance from the hotel with your car perhaps vulnerable if not within eyesight of the hotel.

Overall this hotel deserves a good recommendation.

To say that the hotel is on the edge of the village is very misleading, it is approx a five minute drive away. It is set in a quiet rural area and the hotel is nice enough, the decor is tired and could be freshened up. The food in Timmy Mac's in the evening was lovely, however the breakfast was rather disappointing. The breakfast buffet choice was ok, but you have to get the food out of plastic lidded banmaries, which was a little disappointing.

We stayed here for two nights last week and loved it - and loved Adare! The hotel is amazing (huge grounds) and feels a lot more expensive than we paid. The breakfasts that are included are really nice (large selection) and the rooms were very large. Our bed was nice and our bathroom was large and clean. As a note: it is not walkable to town and there is no other way to get there (3 minute drive) than to get in your car.

Room Tip: Stay up and away from the main ballroom as that can get noisy.

I brought my husband here as a birthday treat and many people have said how good it is.
It is a beautiful hotel in wonderful tranquil settings. Our room (307) was spacious but a little tired looking furniture wise. Strangely it had a settee and lots of space but no table. The mattress and pillows were comfortable but sadly the bed frame was old and creaky and shreeched whenever you moved on the bed so it was not easy to sleep in. The staff have all been lovely and friendly. The first night we had dinner in their bistro "Timmy Macs" which was very nice. Last night we had dinner in their elegant restuarant "The Fieldings" . It was wonderful and Maureen, our waitress, was so attentive and friendly. We were very impressed with the leasure facilities. The only negative thing about this hotel is the noise from the disco. Even though we were a long way from the function room we were kept awake by the bass beat of the disco until about 3am the first night. I did complain and I think it was a bit quieter last night but I could still hear it. Also the room is quite soundproof to the nextdoor rooms but not to the corridor so once the wedding functions finished we were then kept awake by the guests returning to their rooms from about 3 am to 6 am so needless to say we did not get much sleep. It is a shame because noise aside, this hotel is really
good.

On July 27th 2012 we celebrated our wedding together with a sizable contingent of family and friends, many of whom spent 3 nights at the Woodlands. We couldn't have asked more of the hotel management, staff and facilities. Top quality, locally sourced food and drink. Large, comfortable and modern accommodation, top class spa and leisure centre and the personal service from the Fitzgerald family set this hotel apart from most in Ireland. Highly Recommended.

Room Tip: The cheaper rooms close to function room can be noisy.
