“A Gem in Adare”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2013

This was not our first visit to Bridie at Berkeley Lodge. We first stayed in 2011. We stayed this year both at the beginning and end of our visit to Ireland and were treated like old friends. Bridie was first a most accommodating hostess as she worked with our schedule of an early arrival from a US red eye so that we could catch a few hours sleep. She then sat and chatted with us treating us like friends, gave us recommendations for meals and routes for travel to our destination on the following day. Our accommodations while most reasonable were sparkling clean, the beds soo comfortable, the baths roomy, and appointed attractively. The plantings all around we're colorful and interesting, making a pleasant backdrop for our breakfasts. (We highly recommend the French toast.) Adare is an interesting and beautiful Irish town, but more beautiful are our memories of our visits with sweet Ms. Bridie. Hers is an exceptional B&B ! ( May I add that a friend of ours stayed there arriving very ill. Ms. Bridie looked after him and cared enough to call him in the US the following week to check on his health! That is hospitality and care above and beyond a mere accommodation!!!!!) You must experience the Berkeley Lodge.

This beautiful bed and breakfast hosts a top quality in all aspects. Situated in the centre of Adare on a quiet street, the rooms are bright, cosy and will ensure a peaceful nights sleep. The breakfast menu caters for all; the full irish to poached eggs with smoked salmon, and while you wait there is fresh fruit, yogurt and juices. Overall this B&B is fantastic, whether it is for a night, a weekend away or a weeks base on your holiday or work, this is where you would and should want to stay.

Just completed a four night stay with Bridie at Berkely Lodge. Location was perfect for our day tripping to Ring of Kerry, Dingle, Cliffs of Mohar and much more. Bridie has made her home very inviting and comfortable. She is full of knowledge and sent us off each day after a great breakfast and chat. Beds were comfortable, the rooms nicely appointed with ensuite bathrooms. We would highly recommend Berkeley Lodge for a week- end, overnight, or longer stay.

I had to cancel my travel plans due to a medical emergency. Bridie was very gracious and understanding and I appreciate that so much. I will book with her when I reschedule my trip. Not all proprietors would be so understanding!

We enjoyed our stay here very much. Our hostess was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. The Lodge is located just a short walk from the village and near a river walk that makes a pleasant stroll into town via the abbey. We cannot think of a single negative about our stay here.

We found Bridie to be very hospitable and welcoming. Our room on the ground floor was very comfortable with a large window looking out onto many colourful flowers. Bridie was very informative with local knowledge - places to see and where to eat in Adare. Berkeley Lodge is well situated as it is a short walk into town for shopping, eating and sightseeing.

This lovely b and b in Adare was the best. My friend and I arrived early from the airport and Bridie let us check in early. Our room was wonderful, very cheerful. The bathroom was immaculate. The room had a huge window that looked out onto the yard and flowers. It was extremely comfortable. Bridie made us feel very much at home. The breakfasts were delicious. It is quiet and I slept well.
She had suggestions for dinner in town that were very good. The walk into town was less than 10 minutes, the Heritage Center is close by as is a bank with an ATM. There is a lovely River Walk close by. I can't say enough about this accommodation. I would return here and will be telling friends that are going to Ireland about Bridie and her b and b. It was like being at home, so comfortable.

Room Tip: I had a room with a double and single which was great. It was downstairs and was large and comfy.
