Lovely staff and food in a relaxed atmosphere - recommend going after 8pm for a quieter meal for couples :) Also the crab claws as a starter are divine!!

We ate there as part of our bank holiday package with the Clifden station house hotel. To start with, we had a lovely night, really nice food, very friendly and chatty staff. As the weekend progressed and the hotel and restaurant filled up, things deteriorated quite a bit. Orders were forgotten, drinks not brought - and what really annoyed us the children's menu was shrunk to a pretty paltry choice and the resulting plate of spaghetti was almost too small to mention.

We ate here numerous times during our trip to Clifden, and the fact that we came back indicates that we were satisfied customers. I loved the pizza - on a thinnish crust, so it wasn't too heavy.

The decor was a real treat, and spoke to the restaurant's heritage as a railway station. Do yourself a favor and check out all the posters on the wall... they're both instructive and charming.

For me, though, I have to admit that the highlight was dessert - I had chocolate fudge cake each time we went. I'm usually a pretty nice spouse, sharing and all that - but my husband didn't get a single bite! Yup, it's that good.

The location is nice, too - in the middle of a cluster of stores and a museum, and just a block or two away from our B&B (the Dun Ri).

we stopped here on a rainy day for tea and cake. Excellent apple sponge cake and the staff could not have been nicer to our 2 children who wanted to 'help' serve the food! we will be back.
