A wonderful place to stay. Very friendly hosts who have all the information you need on the local area. Great food. A good sized bedroom and shower room. I wouldn't hesitate to book in here again. Clifden only a short drive away for evening meals. Check out the beach café at the very end of Beach Road - excellent quality food at a highly reasonable price.

We stayed there for three nights and wished we could've stayed longer in beautiful Connemara. John and Sue were fantastic hosts. Great food, excellent advice on what to do and where to go. Thank you John and Sue ! we had a lovely time at your place !

This was one of 4 B&B's I stayed at in Ireland this Summer and by far the best - room, breakfast, service, advice and assistance in itinerary planning. John and Sue insure you are provided all the assistance and direction you may need. The atmosphere is very comforting and leaves you relaxed. If you have plans to see the West side of the Isle I strongly recommend you check with the Sharamore house to see if they have availability, you will not be disappointed. Staying at the Sharamore and enjoying the Connemarra area was the highlight of my trip. If fishing is your game, John insures you get a real value in your fishing expedition. Caught a crazy amount of fish and had a great time seeing sights only accessible by boat. Bring a camera, you will need it.

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely bed and breakfast. The major pluses were the excellent views over the countryside and water from our room, and Susan's delicious rhubarb breakfast delight. We loved the town of Clifden and the coastline is beautiful in this area! Susan suggested Marconi's for dinner, and she was right on!

There was not a closet for hanging clothes in our room, but there was a rack. The bedroom room and bathroom were very clean. If you love a firm mattress, this is the place for you. While we prefer a softer bed, we were OK for 1 night.

We were there during this unusual heat wave. The lovely linens and warm duvet would have been terrific most other times, but with the heat, we found no top sheet to be uncomfortable. Our choice was to be completely uncovered, or much too warm with the duvet. When I mentioned this to Susan the following morning, when she asked how we slept. . . she was a bit defensive and not open to the suggestion of a top sheet. . . which we did find at all other B&Bs.

Be aware that they have dogs. . . they are friendly though. One of them sleeps on the sofa in the foyer, which is OK, I guess. . . if you are dog lovers. They did not come into the lovely breakfast room and I did not detect doggy scent in our bed room.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have a better view

Thank you for your review and your nice comments about our house and breakfast.
Unfortunately the heat wave is now over but it was very hot when you were here which we are not used to. We only use a bottom sheet and a clean duvet cover as we feel that a second sheet might give some guests the impression that the sheets are changed but not the duvet cover and as you point out we do keep our rooms and linens as clean as possible. Your suggestion of a top sheet during the very hot weather is a good one and we will use it if we ever get another heat wave!
"Stanley" is our only house dog who is allowed into certain areas only, most of our guests like him and he has been reviewed a lot! Our other two dogs are working Labradors who are most of the time in their kennel and never come into the house.
Thank you again for your review and we hope you had a good holiday in Ireland.

Sharamore House is an outstanding place to stay. John and Sue Brittain, owners/operators, are real quality people. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with them and their family.

This is a great location for exploring the beautiful Connemara area. Hiking Omney Island, the National Park, Innishbofin, and visiting Kylemore Abbey are all musts. John and Sue were great at providing information, maps and advice for our daily adventure. The town of Clifden is delightful and only a few minutes away. Marconi's and Guys are great places to eat, and make sure you stop in and see Shane at Ferguson Fine Wines.

Let me set the record straight. The breakfasts are awesome. These folks can cook, and the ingredients are top cabin. Our room was clean, bright and overlooked Streamstown Bay.

I can't imagine staying anywhere else if I were visiting the Connemara area.

I do have 2 regrets: 1)Not having Sue's pancackes until the last day, and 2) Not booking a day of fishing with John.

The room was very comfortable, there was no trouble having a single, the breakfasts were terrific (many options and plenty of fruit and yoghurt offered). We were welcomed and given good advice on walking. Sue and John obviously know Connemarra well as walkers and fishers and can give first hand advice. While staying here we especially enjoyed dinner at Paddy Coynes pub in Tully Cross. Also Olivers pub in Cleggan - it was nicer to get out to a pub than dinner in Clifden.

Room Tip: We had exceptionally hot weather and the room near the front door was cooler than the ones upstairs,

Thank you for your review and we are glad you enjoyed Connemara and your stay with us. The Connemara mountains are wonderful and the walk up Benlettery which you did is one of the best even in an official "heat wave"!

Departing Ballyvaughan we paused at the picturesque seaside village of Kinvarra, home of 11th century Dunguarie Castle, before passing through Galway to Oughterard and on to Clifden, another village rated amongst Irelands prettiest. Sharamore House our home for that evening is a few kilometres north of the town, overlooking the inlet from the ocean; the view of which we enjoyed from our room. Sue made us feel welcome and gave us important advice about Clifden; its one way street setup, eating venues and a recommendation that we travel the Sky Road around the inlet. At the Town Square, with dozens of people enjoying the sun outside one of the many pubs, we discovered a jewellery shop which all ladies should put on their ‘must visit’ list; O’Dalaigh Jewellers, in High St. A couple of items from their ‘Ripples in the Sand’ range accompanied us back home. The return to our B&B was via Sky Road and it is recommended for all; but take care as it is very narrow in places. John conducts fishing trips so when I saw fish on the breakfast menu, there was no hesitation in ordering it. It was scrumptious. The combination of Clifden and Sharamore House is a must for travellers along the west coast.
