“Best Campsite ever?”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

Strong words I know, best campsite ever, but we've been to a lot and we had an amazing time at Clifden Eco beach earlier this year. We hired a campervan and went in April and we got lucky with the weather for that time of year, which helped, but we were down on the beach with the kids every day, the kids would wake up and go straight to the rockpools before breakfast. There are only 20 pitches here when full up and loads of space in between them, you are camped right in the dunes and have the sea all around, it was amazing. The owners Chris and Tatiana were a joy, they couldn't have been more friendly or relaxed, and we will be back as soon as we can be - and it's a fair jog from North London.

Top quality, thanks for looking after us, see you soon.

We enjoyed our 2nd stay at Acton's Eco Beach site for 6 nights in early July '14. Our booking was for a caravan with awning, car (dog on a lead) and a bell tent & everything went smoothly. The location is perfect for touring the area, has very clean toilets and showers (plus a camp kitchen) & is on machair grass which doesn't get v wet or at all muddy.
It was lovely waking up to the sound of the tide, and drinking our morning coffee looking at the waves breaking on the beach.
The owners are so very friendly & accommodating, as are their lovely kids, & have done well building the site over the years.
We'll definitely be back again next year.

Room Tip: Tent sites closer to the sea are beautiful, but can be more difficult to erect a tent in in strong A...

We were recommended to visit this site by co-campers at the Westport music festival and arrived without booking for two nights . We were greeted warmly by the owners and offered a tour of the site and choice of pitch for our small camper van. The facilities were terrific, the private beach and views right onto the Atlantic some of the most breath taking I've seen and we although blessed with wall to wall sunshine I'd not hesitate to return in choppier climes. It was the perfect place to just stop ....I only wish our trip had been longer.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights, we pitched our tent right by the edge of the beach which was a beautiful sight to wake up to in the morning. The beach is kept immaculate and is so secluded, it's great for a relaxing walk in the evening, or a great safe place to bring all the family. Kris and Tatjana were very friendly and welcoming hosts, you could tell they're very passionate about their campsite and preserving it's eco ideals. Would definitely recommend for a quiet, relaxing holiday away from all the noise and gimmicks of most campsites and caravan parks. The place was busy enough while we were there but it's such an open space we never felt crowded or our privacy was impeded. The free hot showers and free tea and coffee were particularly nice touches. We will definitely be returning again.

Stayed here last weekend for 1 night but have to say we will be visiting again for longer in the future! An amazing site with lovely welcoming owners, facilities just as advertised and wonderful scenery.
Great kitchen area, with free tea and coffee, and loads of information about the local area. Owners were great with information about where we could get some good local sea food for tea that night. We pitched our tent in such a lovely spot in the sanddunes which was nice and private overlooking the water. Very little noise which was just what we wanted being a couple with no children, meant we could sleep past 7 unlike sites with playgrounds next to tents.
The site has a private beach with white sands and clear blue water which was also beautiful!
I would say a great spot for couples and families that love the outdoors.
Have to say thank you for the seeds, radish are growing already!

Had a great week camping at Actons camping and caravan park last week!Scenery amazing with wonderful sunsets and a lovely private beach great for swimming and snorkelling! Great facilities on site with hot showers and a nice clean kitchen. Kris and Tatjana were wonderful hosts and very helpful and made us feel very welcome. Would highly recommend this camp site. I have done a lot of travelling around the world but this really is a little piece of heaven on my doorstep :)

We camped here for just one night and would definitely go back. The welcome was very good with a full run down of the campsite, the area and things to do. The setting is beautiful and we were really lucky with the weather as it was blue skies and sunshine all round. There are a few real gems of pitches that offer privacy and sea views. Unfortunately these were all taken but we got a great pitch in the middle with lots of room for our toddler to run around away from water dangers. The toilets and showers were really clean and well kept but unfortunately located at the very top of the site and you have to go an unnecessarily long way round to get to them which would be a pain in less fine weather. The kitchen was very small but they do offer free tea and coffee which is nice. All in all a great place to stay with a stunning beach and relaxed atmosphere.
