My wife and I had planned to stay in Galway for two nights, but departed after one because of the heat, noise, and lack of sleep. We made reservations at Ardagh based on Tripadvisor reviews and we certainly not disappointed in any way. The hotel is located just far enough outside of Clifden on a beautiful property with a very nice view. Everything about our stay was excellent. The staff, our room, the food, the location, were all great. In making up for lost sleep in Galway, we overslept and were late for breakfast. The staff went out of their way to made sure that we were full and well taken care of before we headed out. We would certainly stay at Ardagh should we ever find ourselves in Clifden again.

We have just returned from a week at the Ardagh hotel after selecting it from reviews on Tripadvisor. This hotel and location did not disappoint in any way. The family couldn't be any more friendly and helpful and all had a great knowledge of the area. The service staff are also a real credit . The attention to detail in the rooms, lounges and restaurant was amazing. I can't praise enough the food in the restaurant and the breakfasts, All of which were extremely fresh, with own grown vegetables and herbs, and absolutely delicious. The view from the hotel is amazing and we are already planning another visit to this hotel which is a wonderful base to explore the fantastic west of Ireland. We can't recommend this place enough.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms are highly recommended although the other rooms still boast lovely garden views

My husband and I have just spent five nights in Heaven! This was our first trip to County Galway staying just outside Clifden..... and the Ardagh was the most beautiful place to stay. Serge and his team have absolutely nailed it!. You couldn't wish for better food, accommodation which was spotless and sooooo comfortable! Very friendly, nothing too much trouble and we were made to feel so welcome by everyone. The view out of our bedroom window was to die for overlooking the Bay. The restaurant had breathtaking views, magnificent food, outstanding breakfasts...and the service is second to none. The Ardagh feels luxurious but has a very homely feel about it that just makes you feel relaxed as soon as you arrive. Thank you for making the first part of our holiday to Ireland a very special experience.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room.

Amazing three-days rest at the Ardagh hotel. Really beautiful and quiet place to rest and relax. Staff are very nice and helpful. The room was cozy and spotless with a stunning view. Absolutely right decision to stay for dinner at the restaurant which has sea view, superb sunset. wow! amazing!!! :)) Fantastic fresh seafood served by pleasant and smiling waitresses. After dinner drinks at the bar/lounge with live music on guitar played by Serge, Thank to Stephane, Monique and all the staff for a pleasant stay. We will definitely come back before the end of summer! Love it so much!!

I was doing a tour of Ireland with my sons(3 and 11) which was a real boys own adventure
involving a lot of camping and generally being boys. For our last days we decided a little luxury was in order and booked three nights at the Ardagh. Upon arrival the friendly guy on reception gave us a mini tour and friendly brief and offered to take our bags. I declined as our luggage was by now in some state! Our room was huge! A suite? The kids jumped on the beds and i gasped at the view. Man! We headed out for dinner in the town that night and Clifden is a nice town. However
the second night we stayed for dinner and the attention my boys received from Monique was so special and she tailored them a wonderful meal, veg et all! They had previously been living on the ubiquitous chicken goujons. I had turbot which i ate in the restaurant overlooking a sunset and believe me life doesnt get better.
That night kids asleep i ventured down to the bar and was treated to an impromptu gig by owner Stephane( tamborine) and son Serge (vocals and guitar) plus great chat.
The rest of our stay continued in the same vein and we got to know Monique, Stephane and Serge really well(Husband, wife, son, owners).
I dont write reviews and this is my first. Its a wonderful pearl of a hotel run with total passion.
It looks like a boutique hotel i guess but run by human beings.I have stayed in many Hotels
but dont really have any memories of them until now.
I dont know if areas get reviews but connemara gets five stars. It really is gods country.

Room Tip: Try get the sea view. If you cant and get the mountain view the staff ensure you breakfast by the wi...

From the first phone call to Serge I knew this was going to be the perfect place for a family break. Such a friendly and professional service is given by every team member of the Ardagh hotel. The rooms are spacious, very clean , beds so comfortable and a fantastic breakfast served by the lovely Cynthia in a beautiful dining room , with the most stunning of views. We were even entertained by a fabulous singer/musician on the first night of our stay and then had the privilege to hear Serge playing his guitar (beautifully) the next day. We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing break and hope to return again soon.
