We are just back from a most enjoyable stay at the Station House Hotel . On arrival we had a warm and hearty welcome . We found the hotel both clean and comfortable . The food was good and varied . The location is good as it is just alongside the town . There is plenty of nightly entertainment in every pub in town . There is plenty to do and see in the adjoining areas . We would like to say a special "Thank you " to the reception staff who were over and above what would be expected from them .

We rented one of the apartments attached to the hotel for a weekend. They were a few years old and badly in need of modernisation. The shower hose in the bathroom was broken and therefore i had to go to the swimming pool to use the shower facilities there. Not impressed with the prices either, €69 per night for this sub-standard room. Won't be going back in a hurry.

Lovely staff, couldnt be more helpful. Nice room, good size. No problems with noise. But no WiFi in the room! (Downstairs in lobby and restaurant). Got to fix that. Breakfast was very good. Very good choice of hot and cold items. We had dinner the first night. It was fine for the price as a set menu, but don't expect too much more. Plenty of veg though.

Station house bar really nice but sooooo very quiet. That was a shame. Pool is good but suana a bit tired and right beside it so not so private.

But good value for money and good place to stay overall.

We enjoyed a very reasonably priced weekend for 2 at the Clifden via Groupon for £69 which included breakfast. Reception were friendly and courteous and got us to our room without any delay. The room was good, clean and spacious, and I found the huge double bed comfortable. There was some noise on the Friday night, a heavy bass sound, perhaps from the bar or lounge. Anyway, not too bad and I’ve learned to always carry ear-plugs anyway! Breakfast was great and everything you would expect was available: fruit juices, cereals, breads, buns, baps and of course an ‘Irish’ cooked breakfast, there was even smoked salmon if you wanted to try it. No password is required for the wi-fi signal in the lobby, which worked fine. I believe wi-fi is available in the room but it attracts an additional cost. Overall, the hotel is very good and I can recommend it. Just a bit of gloss work required to tidy up the doors and frames which would lift it to 5 star rating. One really nice touch was the piano playing in the lobby on the Saturday evening - and the pianist was exceptional!
The hotel is central in the middle of the town, however, its not really the ‘harbour’ location that google maps indicate, its more like a river which becomes an estuary. It’s a pleasant walk from the hotel along the ‘beach’ road to the boat club for a cup of tea. Shame about the weather, it rained for 3 days, but then it is the west of Ireland on the threshold of the north Atlantic.
I have not uploaded photos of the room or the hotel, but those on the Trip advisor site are accurate. I have no complaints about the Clifden Station House hotel and would have no hesitation in recommending it. Top tip: if you are travelling from N.I. don’t take the Sligo road, although it is 50 mile shorter it’s a road to get lost on! Take the Dublin – Galway road. Hopefully you found this review helpful, if so please remember to click the 'yes' button” and I am happy to answer questions via the Trip Advisor website.

We have just returned from a very enjoyable stay at the Station House in Clifden. The hotel was very well located both for the town centre itself but also as a hub for visiting the many interesting locations and beautiful scenery that Connemara and Galway has to offer. (For those that remember the film "The Quiet Man" starring John Wayne this area was used as the location for the film.) The staff in the hotel went out of their way to be helpful. The rooms were bright and very comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to the area and I certainly intend to go there again. Look out for accommodation offers and or contact Marie Cormican on 0852196696 or 09521699 for information about this.

One observation I would make regarding travel in the area. Either have a good map or preferably an up to date Sat Nav with you as road signs in this part of the country are predominately in Gaelic with no English translation and it does make navigation from point A to point B frustrating at times for travelers who are not familiar with the area. I did pass this observation on to the hotel owner who appreciated the difficulty and promised to take it up with the powers that be.
