A great place to stay, delicious breakfast and comfortable rooms. When we arrived we were offered tea and cake and a folder with all the menus for the local restaurants and pubs, their location on a map and when they had live music. In the room there was a folder of local walks and a booklet on walks in Connemara. A packed lunch can be ordered for the next day and there is a drying room which luckily we didn't need. A five minute walk takes you into the town. The friendly owners are a wonderful source of information. Highly recommended but you need to like collectible cows, thank goodness I didn't have to do the dusting.

Great stay at the guesthouse. Very comfortable and spacious. Owners friendly and very helpful, gave great suggestions on both dinner and next days activities, one of our favorite stays in Ireland thanks to these suggestions. Couldn't have been more helpful and breakfast deliciouse. It was my friends first time staying in a B&B/Guesthouse, and now they're sold on them.

My nephew and I stayed in Clifden. The Buttermilk Lodge is a great location. It is an easy walk to town (downhill). Coming back is a bit harder but if you have spent enough time in the pubs, you won't notice! The room had two beds and a bathroom. Breakfast was good. They packed a lunch for us which was nice. We were busy during the day. My nephew rented a bike and made several of the available loops. I took out on foot and walked the upper and lower Sky Road loop. Great views and farms and animals and fresh air! No sidewalks but not a lot of traffic in the fall.

Room Tip: We were downstairs. Even though we didn't have to go upstairs to the room, if you are on foot...

We've stayed here twice. It's within walking distance of Clifden's main street, but is in a quiet, scenic location.

It has everything - Great rooms, breakfast, decor ( cow themed....), parking, wifi, etc. etc.

But it's best feature is the welcome. It feels like you're a guest in someone's home as you have tea in the lounge and peruse Clifden's restaurant menus.

It's a home from home.

Room Tip: Ask for one at the front, for the view.

If you enjoy staying in B&Bs, then you'll have difficulty finding better in that field. This place really is everything being done right... It's warm and inviting, welcomed with cake and coffee, the roomas are always warm, the staff unobtrusive and the place is immaculately clean... you're guaranteed a brilliant breakfast, plenty of options and the best pancakes you'll ever taste.... I have a little walking difficulty, and despite being up a slight hill I didnt have any real problem and walked up and down every evening.... it's also pretty quiet there, save the usual thing in B&B of other guests being a bit inconsiderate and talking loud and banging doors in the morning... but that's nothing to do with the place itself and certainly didn't detract.... The only thing that might add to it is if the water pressure in the shower was stronger, perhaps a power-shower.... as it was a little too gentle for me... but otherwise, this is as good a B&B as you're ever likely to find, and it's great value too... the friendly and kind staff are just great, and that makes all the difference. Now if the breakfast went on til 11am it'd be the best place on the map...

Room Tip: I don't know, they all seem so well appointed... I suppose if you like a later sleep, away from...

An easy walk to and from the lively small town of Clifden, with its many shops and music pubs. Quiet, clean and comfortable, with easy parking and generous, varied and tasty breakfasts. Peat fire in the lounge, along with complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits helped make it a pleasant place to sit. Warm welcome too - the owners have thought of everything a visitor needs.
