Kathleen & Michael run a spotless & comfortable Bed and Breakfast. We stayed for one night and were warmly welcomed by Kathleen and shown to a lovely large room with Tea making facilities (a biscuit would have been a nice touch) Kathleen also provided us with information on Restaurants in Clifden for Dinner. Full Irish Breakfast was fantastic, eggs cooked to perfection.
Our only criticism was the lack of water pressure for the shower, it was terrible and this needs to be addressed!!
Would we recommend this B&B, yes, it is in a lovely quiet spot, with walks to the sea & check out the ponies.

There is only one place to stay if you are headed to Clifden Ireland. This place is conveniently located on the Western Coast about 1 hour northwest of Galway. There are plenty of activities nearby to keep you busy, such as the Kylemore Abbey(the Benedictine Nuns make amazing chocolate!) You are close to the beach, and right outside of the town of Clifden set on a farm. Mike and Kathleen are wonderful hosts. You start every morning with a traditional Irish Breakfast. The Faul House is very kid friendly, and we are already trying to figure out how we can make it back out for another couple of days. We are from Texas, and were here on holiday, so we felt right at home. The accommodations are very comfortable and peaceful. I would highly recommend this as your next get away.

Room Tip: They can accommodate just about any set up you need. Really don't think one room is better than another. All were very nicely kept.

We loved our stay at the house of Kathleen and Michael. They are so friendly and the atmosphere of the house and surroundings is so warm and lovely. The place is great for children. I had my daughters (7 and 13 years) with me, and Michael let us play with the Connemara Ponys and explained to us how he raises Fauls. We loved to stay in the meadows by the sea with the ponys. The old brick houses and walls give the area something very ancient. The breakfast was amazing.
Clifden is very near and it has so nice pubs with good food (e.g. Guy's Bar) where they play live music. Near Clifden is the Sky Road with an amazing view over the sea and an amazing sunset.

My family spent three memorable and wonderful days at Faul House. The experience was excellent in every way: friendly and helpful, but mellow and unobtrusive hosts; comfortable, clean, pleasant accommodations including lovely touches like a hot water bottle in my son's bed and turf (peat) fire cracking in the sitting room; delicious, quality breakfast with a great selection of choices served formally (without being stuffy) on chinaware; expansive and gorgeous surroundings to wander among bogs, pet Connemara ponies, explore by the sea; quiet, rural, peaceful, safe location near Clifden. Kathleen and Michael are true professionals and genuine people who have refined the art and science of running a B&B. They have thought through all of the little details that make a B&B truly accommodating and enjoyable. By far, Faul House was the best place we stayed on our 9-day trip to Ireland. If you want refinement without pretension, an authentic Irish experience without cliche, an opportunity to explore this stunning area without experience crowds, Faul House is a perfect base camp.

Room Tip: We had the family room with a view of the pasture where Connemara ponies wandered. All rooms are quiet and clean.

Stayed at Faul House recently with my wife; couldn't have been made more welcome from the minute we arrived thanks to Michael and Cathleen. The room was excellent, massive bed which was very comfortable...better than a lot of 5* star hotels I've stayed in. Meeting the ponies, sitting round the fire with a glass of wine followed by a wonderful breakfast..and then there's the location - absolutely beautiful, we'll certainly be back.
