We always visit Foyles restaurant whilst in Clifden. The hotel is well situated in the centre of Clifden and easy for parking. Great family feel and much charm. Restaurant has a great ambience and lovely place to return to. The fish on the menu was exceptional

How lovely and refreshing to find this wonderful comfortable and elegant hotel at the end of a long day. Having spent the previous two nights in a charmless modern hotel in Westport it was such a joy to relax in the welcoming warmth of Foyle's, The room was comfortable and so spacious. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was really good. There was a genuine relaxed family atmosphere in this animal friendly hotel. I would really recommend it.

I stayed for the first time at this hotel right in the centre of Clifden. It is a family run hotel where modern facilities are combined perfectly with old world charm. The room was spacious with period furniture front facing. The hotel is family owned & family run - even a two year old Foyle behind the reception desk. All the staff I met are just as charming as the place itself. Mullarkeys bar is also charming & it has great atmosphere with locals & out-of-towners creating a very relaxed venue. The breakfast is cooked freshly for the individual & is served piping hot with great coffee. My only issue was with a weak shower but upon my observation, I was assured by a family member that the issue was being addressed & new power showers are being installed. Overall,a great place to stay & I would recommend it to anybody.

Room Tip: Look for a room with a power shower.

Spent the long weekend in Clifden. The restaurant here was the best meal we had there. Smoked SalmonFabulous Halibut at €22 really good value Grand Reserve Chardonnay at €25. Professional and friendly service despite being full to capacity all evening. Bill €60 each including wine and tip.

Old but nice. Very convenient location in town. Parking on the street in front. Great to walk from pub to pub listening to music. Clean with comfy bed. Big bathroom. No lift so be prepared to carry your bags up the stairs. Didn't eat here but many people making reservations at Marconi restaurant .

I stayed at Foyle's last weekend and booked it after reading the glowing trip advisor reviews. I wasn't dissapointed. It is a 3 star that could pass for nearly a 4 star only the interior is somewhat old fashioned (not old and grotty just not recently renovated). I think it add's to the charm, the reception area is nice and big on arrival (and in the winter I imagine v comfortable and cosy). The check in was quick and easy, there is no lift so if you are staying on a higher floor then you will be carrying your own bags (if that's an issue for you) I imagine unless you ask for help. We checked in and our room was assigned, when we arrived to the room it wasn't made up and then I realised we were facing onto the street (v noisy) so asked to be moved and we were put in a lovely room (that was ready) to the back of the hotel facing onto a nice courtyard (major plus). The rooms are v big/spacious with a big bathroom, again not 5 star at all but v clean, snow white sheets and cover on the bed and spotless bathroom. The breakfast was outstanding, service from the breakfast staff was top class on both days, couldn't have looked after us better and no skrimping on asking us if we wanted more of anything.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a room away from the main street.
