We booked rather last minute for our room in Clifden as part of our visit to the Connemara region. While the Ocean Villa's website shows a clean and picturesque B&B, this property is anything but. We have visited several B&B's throughout Ireland and by comparison, this property was run-down, dirty, and very loud if you're staying in the front room with the view of the bay.
Our tea pot had rust flakes and moths hung from the curtains. The bed was very, very old and did not provide a good night's sleep for either one of us. Lastly, the location is quite far from the village, requiring driving if you want to go to town for dinner.
The owner, Carmel, was friendly but in the end, the property was simply not well cared-for or comfortable in any way. Please book ahead in this popular area because Clifden is a lovely town and the trip could have been so much more enjoyable.More
