“Kingstown House- Great People, Great Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

We had a fantastic two nights at Kingstown House. The location, right in the center of town, but just around the corner from the pubs is perfect. Breakfast was great and Jim and Regina were so helpful with suggestions of things to do. We had car trouble and Jim took us to an auto shop and helped us get it taken care of. It really was like staying with friends. There are an endless number of activities in the area and Clifden is a great place to stay. I highly recommend Kingstown House.

We've stayed with Jim and Regina a number of times. This is one of my very favorite B&Bs in Ireland and they are two of my favorite people! Arriving here is like coming home. The breakfasts are fabulous and the hospitality second to none. They are always so very helpful with suggestions of things to do and places to see. Love the small lounge area overlooking the comings and goings outside. We really like Clifden too. So compact and easy to walk to everything in town from the B&B. Seems like Jim never sits down! If he's not working in the back garden he's painting the front of the B&B. This year he was covered in red dust from sanding down the door and front window--very comical!! We wouldn't come back annually to Clifden if we didn't enjoy the town and especially Jim, Regina and the B&B. Hopefully, we'll make it back again next year.

Faboulous experience in this really nice B&B! We were completely lost in Clifden, it was late in the night and we were without a reservation. the owner and his wife were so nice to give us 2 rooms (1 double and 1 triple) for our stay. Unfortunately was just one night. The rooms were clean and confortable provided with potter, cups, tv and wifi free, and all the stuff for staying in a completely relax..the breakfast was gourgeous and big thanks to Regina!!But the most important thing was that they helped us provinding us with all the information that we needed, places to see, where to eat, they booked for us the hourse riding and they helped us to find another place for the night. Unfortunately they were fully booked (ask yourself why!!). If i would like to come back in Clifden i'll stay there for sure!

After 5 hours by car (we arrived around 11 pm) and without have a reservation in Clifden where pass the night, we found this amazing place were stay. Jim (that was relaxing in the sofa) was really really friendly with us despite the time!!! this B&B is really nice...the rooms are big, comfortable and really clean!! the breakfast was so generous and tasty!! we are grateful to Jim and Regina also because they helped us to find another accomodation for the second night (unfortunately for us they were fully booked for the second night) and they gave us advices for the places to visit in the Connemara. If you are looking for an accomodation in Clifden there is only one answer: KINGSTOWN HOUSE!!!!

My wife, Susan, and I spent part of our honeymoon in Clifden. It's a wonderful part of Ireland with charm and many sights to see. Originally we had set aside a short stay to see the Sky Road and a local abbey, but we extended our stay because of the exceptional care we received from Jim and Regina at Kingstown House. It truly felt like staying with friends.
When you're traveling it's comforting to have a local giving you tips on anything that might pop up. From what sights are worth seeing, to the location of the nearest pharmacy or ATM. Jim, but you should call him "Jimmy" everybody else does, is a gem of a guy. He is so friendly and accommodating, going so far as to offer to make us a cup of tea at 10:30 at night after coming in for a quick pit stop. Who does that? Regina is just a friendly, with a sincere interest in the quality of your stay. She's a second generation Inn keeper so it's in her blood. I can't say enough about their professionalism.
Bottom line, when in Clifden stay at the Kingstown House. Here's an additional tip, buy one of Regina's kewl knitted hats or scarfs. You can't get them anywhere else and they're priceless..

My son and I visited Clifden for the Traditional Music Fest in April 2014. We chose to stay at Kingstown House B & B, which proved delightful. The location was ideal; a short walk to the main square and pubs where many of the music sessions were scheduled. Our hosts, Regina and Jim were gracious and warm, accommodating a late change of plan in reservation. Their Irish Breakfast was beautifully prepared - and stood us well through much of the day!

Lodging was comfortable and clean - and convenient to the village.

We made new friends while enjoying our stay - and will look forward to visiting Clifden - and the Kingstown House again.

If you are traveling to the West of Ireland and want a real Irish experience, The Kingstown House is a must! The host, Jimmy and his wife Regina are two of the nicest people you will meet. The house is located right in the center of Clifden. Walking distance to the village with great food and fun pubs along with great shopping.

Our room was large, well equipped, very clean, and comfortable. We had a private bath in the room, good size Tele and the most comfortable beds in all of Ireland. In fact, we had a hard time getting out of bed because the warm, Connemara wool blankets kept us so snuggly we almost missed breakfast.

We ended up going down for breakfast and Regina served us promptly and Jimmy was kept busy in the kitchen cooking up a storm of tradtitional Irish breakfast!

I'm not sure everyone will get the treatment we got, but Jimmy carried my best friend's HUGE (American Sized) luggage all the way up to the third floor. He half heartedly offered to carry it back down, but we let him off the hook.

If you find yourself in the village after dark, I recommend Lowry's for traditional Irish Music. Please offer to biy Jimmy, Regina or the Nun a drink if you do go! Activities abound, so make sure you plan a few days at this stop. Bikes, hikes and buses to Galway not to mention the new Wild Atlantic Way.

Too good to miss!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 6 in the third floor- if you a planning B&B stays, pack a small bag! Room 6 w...
