I stayed here for three nights, it made a great base for touring Co Clare. Bunratty Castle and Limerick were just down the road, Shannon itself is not a typical Irish town its a man made shopping centre in a residential area.
The reception and cleaning staff were lovely, most helpful and the corridors were like a museum with everyone wandering around looking at the artifacts, based on an aviation theme is very apt being so near to the airport and I notice a lot of pilots staying in the Hotel, well if its gd enough for the high fliers its good enough for me! It is like a tardis really surprisingly large inside with long corridors, living up to its name lovely wooden beams throughout, though not a bit dark and dreary at all. The decor was classic and timeless with fine furnishings and reminded of Ashford Castle! We had a nice twin room of our choice with everything we needed or asked for.Have a wander around and especially glance at the pictures.
Breakfast and resturant were lovely rooms, gorgeous fireplace nice food, go as early as you can for breakfast as it is all on hotplates, there is plenty though the staff seemed to be watching every bite! The Bar has a nice atmosphere and does a reasonable carvery though not much choice based more on Indian dishes and only ham to carve!
In general we liked this Hotel, finding it really homely and handy to all amenities in the area and I would def go back again. GR8 value break enjoyed Hotel and the location.

Room Tip: near reception if you dont want to walk too far

I came from another country and booked this hotel because this was near to the airport. Stayed here for two nights before I left to belmullet with my girlfriend. It looks tiny from outside but it has a amazing feel and bigger inside. The weather was kind of crazy but this is a beautiful place.

Great location and people ! Loved my stay here.

Picked this hotel because of its convenience to the airport and the trip advisor reviews. The rooms (we booked three) had an unpleasant odor, within five minutes of being in my room a centipede like bug ran across the floor from underneath the bed - not a good start to my stay. The water in the shower (two out of the three rooms) switched between scalding hot and freezing cold no matter what you did to the temperature controls. Common areas were dark and dreary. Breakfast was nothing special but fine. We payed cash for our rooms but the hotel put a hold on our credit card for over $100. more then the cost of the rooms and the hold was on the card for days after we returned from our trip.

Booked here on a website deal ,and we weren't disappointed.
Room spacious and clean as is the whole hotel itself. Free WIFI all over the hotel and TV/computer in your room to avail of.
Ate in the Pier 17 restaurant on one night and the food was fantastic, portion sizes were huge!!! Dietary specifications were spot on and none of it seemed to be any bother to our server Rita.
Breakfast again, plenty to go around and no shortage, staff on the ball again!

Great stay, would recommend as a great base hotel for the surrounding tourist attractions!

On the positive side, all of the staff were helpful and efficient. Sophie's Bar was always busy with good value food. It is also close to the numerous bus routes that run to/from Shannon airport.

On the negative side I found the public spaces to quite dark and gloomy, the weather didn't help but I understand that being overcast and rainy is not unusual in this locality. While the room was quite peasant there was a problem with the bathroom, I could barely stand upright in the shower.

After reading reviews of other "hotel" options in the area, we decided on Oakwood Arms and were glad we did. Check-in was seamless, the junior suite we'd reserved was ready on arrival. Unfortunately, no elevator in that part of the building but porter service was offered. The room was quite large, very clean and comfortable. At the end of our vacation, we appreciated having a loveseat and soft chair to relax in. We chose the hotel because it also had an on-site restaurant - wanted minimal driving on the night before an early flight out. The food was good (steaks) and plentiful. We were also happy with the option for a continental breakfast prior to 7am, when their normal breakfast service begins.
It was a short drive to the airport, would highly recommend for pre or post flight layover!
