We booked this hotel as we got a good deal on the internet (did the same for our London hotel and that was a disaster!!) and it was no. 1 here on tripadvisor. We were delighted we picked it as it was a really comfortable last night in Ireland. We stayed in room 215, had heaps of space for us two adults and 3 kids and an enormous amount of luggag gathered over our vacation.

Friendly check in...set ourselves up and headed out to the folkpark for the last day. The bus runs right outside the front of the hotel so we got to Bunratty in like, ten minutes for a couple of bucks. The kids loved the novelty of the ride. The folk park was a wonderful last day experience and we had lunch in macs.

We got back to the hotel ready for hot showers ( and they actually had hot power showers!) and ate a lovely last dinner in the bar...really good. They had a traditional music night which was cool. My daughter did her riverdance for them!

Great little place. Oh and the shop next door sells irish candy which we picked up for the kids friends back home. All in all ..we would stay here again..definately!

Dear grown up and small guests, we are very pleased that you enjoyed your time with us at the Oakwood Arms and that you received value on the internet. We take particular satisfaction in making our junior guests welcome, and its good to read that they had a nice taste of Ireland with Bunratty Castle and our traditional music night before their last night. As many of us are parents ourselves; we know the extra needs of family travel. Thanks you for your lovely review and we’ll be sure to bring your comments to all members of our staff.

For anyone looking for a place to stay the night before a flight, this is a very good place to stay. I found the desk staff very friendly. Pub had good food and atmosphere. Looks much older than it is (in a good charming way). Lots of Avaiation decor. Just what we needed to comfortably unwind and get ready for the departure.

Stayed at Oak Wood to be close to airport. Had a really nice meal in the pub (restaurant was closed on Easter).

Seemed to be sparsely populated, which was great. Super-quiet as a result. Upgraded to a suite, which was excellent. Really nice room with a separate sitting room. Unfortunately, it had a leak in the ceiling. Someone was up to switch us within 3 min. Very apologetic and attentive.

Second suite was huge and just as nice. Unfortunately, the shower was one of the worst I've been in. The flow was bad, but it had a pin-hole leak at the bottom and would empty onto the floor when you turned it off. It killed my excitement since I had been looking so forward to a great shower.

Of note was a waiter in the pub -- Voijtech. Among the more enthusiastic and friendly servers I've had. Really neat fellow.

I'll give it another try next time we visit. Just a little disappointing given the great feedback they had that drove my reservation.

Thank you LeoSami for your kind words and feedback and we will ensure that Wojtek hears of your comments.
We take all reviews seriously and have investigated our power shower in our Killian Suite. We discovered that the shower head must have been set to the lowest flow (the flow can be adjusted by our guest to their customised requirements). With regard to the pinhole at the foot of the shower hose, this is part of the manufacturing process to ensure that the first blast (should the shower be set to full power) will always have fresh water and not contain water lodgements from previous use. It's a measure to ensure that we operate full hygiene standards in our bedrooms. Leo Sami we hope to see you again in the future and we will ensure that your next stay is a very pleasant one.

We stayed here overnight before catching a flight back to the states and it exceeded all expectations. The price was good, rooms very clean, friendly service and most importantly it was so easy to get to the aiport. Also a gas station next door made it easy to gas up before returning the rental car.

There was some sort of a kickboxing party/convention that night so it was impossible to find parking anywhere, but there seemed to be a lot of parking so I imagine its not a common problem.

Restaurant was decent, nothing special.

We did not want to be far from Shannon Airport, so the location of this hotel in the town f Shannon suited us. Because its in the middle of county Calre all the major attractions like the Cliffs and many castles like Bunratty and the Aran Lslands were all close to the hotel. Theres a small mall nearby with chain restaurants like McDonalds and Subway and a cheap department store called Dunnes. We had a family room which was standard and clean and it included breakfast. In the evening they had a choice of menu for small children and pre teens, which was good value for money. I would stay here again.

I switched from my usual hotel (it’s gone out of business) to this place, and it has worked out very well for me. It's centrally located within Shannon Town, close to the business centre and industrial estates and only 5 mins drive to the airport, yet there is surprisingly little noise. My laptop (my constant companionJ) worked fine in my room and there was wifi access throughout the hotel. My room was spacious and clean, with all the mod-cons and the halls are full of interesting aircraft memorabilia. There's a quiet business lounge and good workout facilities. You have to phone in advance to get the sauna / steam room operational which I thought a bit annoying at first but reception advised me that it was hotel policy to be as energy efficient as possible when I queried it. Can't argue with that I suppose! Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice including the healthy option. The bar was comfortable and used by locals, which is always a sign of a good pint. The pub grub was very good and the staff were helpful and efficient. Reception was a delight, very quick and hassle free. I will certainly use this hotel as my base for my frequent business trips to the mid-west of Ireland.
